What if you died today (not believeing in god) and god sent you to hell , how would you react (keep in mind that hell is a place where maggots are treated better than humans) ???

and another question

Wouldnt it be easier to pray, read the bible, and go to church (which doesnt take
that much time) , rather than spend an eternity in hell ???

Some people think that hell is not a bad place to be but until you go there you will never know
I'll answer both at once.

God's an atheist so as an atheist I'm closer to him than any religious person, whus I would go to heaven with him as he obviously wouldn't send himself to hell for his beliefs.

Win
I would probably be like, darn it I'm in hell
Well this is painful
At least I didn't waist my time on earth following every little rule in the bible that makes life blow...
Firstly, there are tonnes of religions so you'd essentially be making a huge guess and hoping it turns up trumps.

Secondly, you go to hell if you don't believe?

And no, its not easier for me to pretend that I believe in something. I can't believe. That's it. Pretending that I do doesn't change that fact.
This is kind of a dumb question, "hey atheists if you died, and went to hell what then?". Uh I guess I burn for all time. I find Christianity morally corrupt if you must know, I would never follow a religion that preached self-sacrifice and altruism. Atheism just states there is no god, it is not a substitute morality. I had to decide for myself what is moral and immoral, and I morally object to Christianity. So even if there was a heaven and hell like the ones described in the Bible, I would rather go to hell, then a heaven with a creator who is too narrow minded to accept me in just because I chose to believe in something else, regardless of my actions.

And the second question does not matter. Because there isn't a god, and praying to an imaginary figure doesn't suit me.

I wouldn't mind going to Hel. According to the Prose Edda, women who are sent there become her personal handmaidens, and are treated better than queens.

The men would tend to her library, or take care of her brothers.

Thus, Hel, not such a bad person. The Edda's story of Hell is great. She is a kind and benevolent ruler of both Niffelheim, the land of snow, and Helheim, the land of fire. Fire is where men and women go to be reborn after years in the snow.

So... I'm fine with that.

Then I would just deal and wait for my boyfriend to come down to hell with me so he can take over and I can be queen of the underworld. DUH. Funny how things work out huh?

And I'd rather be reading Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, and I have to read Jane Eyre and write an essay about it for English IV AP. I hate being smart sometimes. Oh well.

Your question involves the assumption that hell is real, atheists don't believe in a hell, so why should they be worried?

Pascal's Wager is a horrible reason to worship 'God'. He wouldn't appreciate you worshiping Him just so you can get into heaven. What foolishness!

Yep. Course, Pascal was right about one thing, acting as though you believe can cause you to believe over time.

My problem with Pascal has never been the selfishness of his approach but his complete denial of all other religions.
Well considering it won't happen, I don't care.

If i have to go to hell i'll go with my head held high. And no one really knows what hell is like anyhow.

Even if I did believe in god i wouldn't go to church because i believe the church is wrong most of the time
i wouldn't read the bible because i don't think it was ever meant to be taken literally
if i believed in god i would talk to god, not rely on a book or another person to tell me whats right

I find it easier to do what makes me happy.
who r u to say r post that? if u would ask that question u r sayin that and basically condemning to hell, it says in 'the book" not to judge so where did that question come from? *chuckles at ignorance*

Let me answer that with another question? What if you died today and found out that there was no god? Or that one of the other relgions was the right one while you were wrong? If we don't believe in God then what makes us think that Hell exist?

Now I am open-minded I consider all possibilities, I believe there is a higher power but not one that would be so cruel as to condemn me to a place of the damned just because I choosed to not follow a relgion. I choose not to go to church, and read the bible I do pray but not to God I pray to my family when one has died. And on days like Martin Luther King Day or Presidents day to thank them for all they have done. A real father would accept their children decisions, if there is God I believe that he takes in all children good of heart who did not do terrible crimes or anything inhumane and tried to help as many people as they could.

As for me I'd rather just live day by day relgion basically looking forward to death it feels like in relgion one is trying oh so hard to get to the after life. No thanks, I'd much rather just live and be as successful as I can be. I have dreams and I want to achieve them.

Why does it matter to you if we don't believe in God? AS human beings we have rights to decide what to believe in it is in the 1st amendment in my country here in America (in case your not american) Freedom of Relgion and to me that can be the choice to have one or not.

Now I do believe in the supernatural like ghosts and all that I believe in mythical things anything is possible, is it possible that there is a God? Yes but the same goes for all other relgions, I'd rather be open minded and see the outcome when I die not devote my whole life to God and then suffer disappointment. The only people I will devote myself is to my friends and family and no matter what anyone says that will never.

I appreciate your concern but please don't pray for me, of any of us you made your decision and we made ours. As fellow human beings lets just agree to disagree and let the matter drop.

Considering it is said there are nine rings of hell, and each one is made for a specific deadly sin, I would assume we would feel whatever we were meant to feel. Whatever the specified ring of hell was designed to make us feel, of course.

Now, if we got sent to purgatory, we'd be stripped of everything. Every emotion except...I think anger and sadness, I believe, which leaves you to a very depressing existence until the ascension or whatever, when the world ends. When God is supposed to be a picky ******** and tell people who can and who cannot come along.

Since when did fiction become a reliable source?
Read the wording, son. I said "considering it is said there are nine rings of hell" not "there are nine rings of hell". I said "I would assume we would feel whatever we were meant to feel" not "we will feel burning and pain and yada yada yada".

Can I stop or do I still have to prove that I'm one of the few that DOESN'T have his head up his a**?

Is that right? So by the same logic:

"Considering it is said" that deer can speak English as demonstrated in the film Bambi, would you also assume that they are human-esque beings with comparable intelligence? After all, Dante's fiction is is no more valid than Disney's simply because it is ancient.

My point is that it is not appropriate to use fiction as a reference in a debate, unless the debate directly calls for the use of such.
I'd stick with my principles and try to become a masochist.
