Welcome to Gaia! ::

What if you died today (not believeing in god) and god sent you to hell , how would you react (keep in mind that hell is a place where maggots are treated better than humans) ???

and another question

Wouldnt it be easier to pray, read the bible, and go to church (which doesnt take
that much time) , rather than spend an eternity in hell ???

Some people think that hell is not a bad place to be but until you go there you will never know
You tell me. Here is a list of deities Christians and Athiests do not believe in. Would it be REALLY easier to follow all these dogmatic belief systems in hope that one of those is correct?

Yes OP,
But ask yourself this.
If atheists and nonbelievers were to do as you say and pray/worship out of fear,
Wouldn't an omniscient god know that their piety was a falsehood?
I think a deity would want their followers to worship for more than fear.

Also, SheBangs Soup = PageStretcher! burning_eyes
burning_eyes YAY! Hell!! burning_eyes
Well, maybe it's easy to pray and getting up early to go church (Heck, no! I love getting up at 13:00!), but it's less stupid and painful live life as it was ending tomorrow 3nodding
God has ego issues if he has to make us feel fear of hell to worship him, really...

Ok, which church, religion, denomination, etc.
Because one way I might end up in Christian Hell, one in Judaic hell, another is Muslim hell, basically Pascal's Wager is a pile of s**t much like you.

See you in Jahannam!

I would decry your god as an unjust attention whore who does nothing but perpetuate the notion that there is such a thing as thoughtcrime =/

Revelation 20:11-15, NIV
Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. Earth and sky fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what he had done. Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. If anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.

Excuse me? You're tossed into a lake of fire. That doesn't sound bad. In fact, I bet that when the Inuit first read about that it sounded like paradise =/

First off, how do I know I'll be spending an eternity in hell? For all I know I could be getting a stripper factory and beer volcano when I die. Or I could just die and, well, be dead =/

Second, why should I? I don't believe in Christianity, hell, I have good reason to doubt Jesus' existence, let alone his being the son of some attention-whoring god that may or may not exist. Furthermore, do you really think your god would like it if I became nominally Christian simply for the purpose of living in the new Jerusalem rather than being tossed into a lake of fire? Something tells me he'd just chuck me in the lake anyway =/

Considering it is said there are nine rings of hell, and each one is made for a specific deadly sin, I would assume we would feel whatever we were meant to feel. Whatever the specified ring of hell was designed to make us feel, of course.

Now, if we got sent to purgatory, we'd be stripped of everything. Every emotion except...I think anger and sadness, I believe, which leaves you to a very depressing existence until the ascension or whatever, when the world ends. When God is supposed to be a picky ******** and tell people who can and who cannot come along.

I much prefer this
Ezekiel 4:9-13
9 "Take wheat and barley, beans and lentils, millet and spelt; put them in a storage jar and use them to make bread for yourself. You are to eat it during the 390 days you lie on your side. 10 Weigh out twenty shekels of food to eat each day and eat it at set times. 11 Also measure out a sixth of a hin [c] of water and drink it at set times. 12 Eat the food as you would a barley cake; bake it in the sight of the people, using human excrement for fuel." 13 The LORD said, "In this way the people of Israel will eat defiled food among the nations where I will drive them."
and
Ezekiel 4:14-15
14 Then I said, "Not so, Sovereign LORD! I have never defiled myself. From my youth until now I have never eaten anything found dead or torn by wild animals. No unclean meat has ever entered my mouth."

15 "Very well," he said, "I will let you bake your bread over cow manure instead of human excrement."
Yes, your Peter Popoff miracle bread IS cooked over burning s**t! I love that chapter SOOO much.
"But god I havenever done anything unclean!"
"Ok lol. YOu can cook it using burning cow s**t instead"
rofl

But lets not even go into Judges and Leviticus where human sacrifices and slavery is ok!

Pascal's Wager was not a good argument then. It is not a good argument now.

Since when did fiction become a reliable source?

No, because then I might have to worry about acting out toward someone from all the stress if I forced myself to participate in something I don't believe in.

I've seen images of hell, it doesn't look to bad, since ancient Jerusalem's garbage is long gone.

Well, that doesn't really say anything as maggots could be treated like kings, while us humans could be treated like mere rich men. wink

How would we react? Depends on exactly what hell entails. Depends on the person. Some might beg for mercy. Others might simply accept their punishment. It is impossible to tell.

Lol. You think that is what makes someone a good Christian? Or even a Christian at all? I could do all those things(well maybe not pray)without even believing God existed.

skinnypurtorican

Well that is an argument from ignorance if I ever saw one. It might be bad so we better avoid it? It might be an extremely fun place. We don't know.

Or do you have proof of what hell is really like?

Secondly, many people do not believe that hell really exists, so whether or not it is a bad place is of no importance.

My thoughts exactly! When DID the Christian Bible become a reliable source?
