God cannot be both good and not good. God cannot be both existent and nonexistent. Just because we can't all agree on these matters doesn't mean we should all adapt an "Everyone is right, mind your own business" outlook. If there was a debate in the scientific community over whether or not alligators exist, would you have them all keep to themselves and leave the nonbelievers alone? Of course not. But this is a belief system just like any religion. Why should it be any different with a God? Just like alligators, either God does exist or he doesn't - it's not a matter of opinion. Its not that..I believe that you have a right to defend whatever you want..but to argue on a belief is ridiculous..you have a right to change your thoughts on belief..not fact..some people are on the side " i need proof"..some are on the side " I'm just tired of organized religion" etc..plus this isn't a multiple choice assessment..if I felt like converting to the Muslim religion i could..if I felt like being Buddhist i could etc..thats America You do have a right to defend whatever you want, and you can argue on beliefs...you just will never come to any particular conclusion. who's to say who's right? the world may never know 3nodding Yes that was the tootsie pop commercial reference. mrgreen I love tootsie pops ^^ you can't just convert as you please...requirements must be met and followed. So you can't change religion like you change underwear it just doesn't happen. But yes, you can occasionally switch religions if your personal path leads you that way. You really don't have to be in America to do so either ^^. that idea is wayyyy overrated...>.< LOLz The God i serve doesn't want us to contend with anyone. We only speak the truth of the Bible. If they choose to argue or disapprove, dust off your sandals and go to another location. |

It kind of defeats the purpose of not having any negative feelings toward a deity and remain perfect in love. |

skinnypurtorican What if you died today (not believeing in god) and god sent you to hell , how would you react (keep in mind that hell is a place where maggots are treated better than humans) ??? well i was raised to be catholic and i was taught god is mercyful so if he actually exists he would forgive hur? skinnypurtorican Wouldnt it be easier to pray,read the bible, and go to church (which doesnt take that much time) , rather than spend an eternity in hell ??? do you believe in reincarnation? would you prefer not to kill bugs and stuff so that you don't reincarnate in them? no, because that's not your belief the same here. Ah, my favorite topic:
This topic is something I tend to spend less and less time in and around... There is just no point anymore. I find that people who try to convert others are just trying to either: .- Get themselves on God's good list .- Trying to do something they can brag about later .- Trying to make themselves feel good because they think that's whats going to happen .- The list goes on. I read the list on the first page, and I must say, no matter what religion you are in, we all pretty much believe in the same god. If you believe in a god who created earth, and another person believes that a god created humanity and earth was already here, who cares?! It's the same god! They both created something, leave it at that. Like myself. I'm Native, my mom isn't. I live with my mom and she's a Christian. I believe in my Nuu-Chan-Nulth religion, where everything has a creator, and everyone has a spirit they can look up too. The creator is basically like god, yet my mom insisted on dragging me too church for twelve years of my life: I am fourteen right now, I hope you can see why I absolutely hate church. Because I never believed in the religion, and I always thought that God should be praised by yourself. You don't need to go around bragging to people about how much you love god. No one really cares, unless you're in a church, and by then everyone in there are over-excited and want nothing else than to tell others about how they are such "good christians", when technically I can be a good christian just by staying at home and reading the bible. Which I sometimes do, but that doesn't make me christian, it just helps me get a better view on other religions. Another thing, is that I don't get how people can think that there is a Christian God, when technically the religion was made by a king who wanted to control his people. Yah, go back to social studies guys, it was created by a king. Not to mention, there is no truth behind the bible. We don't know the people who made it, and I'm not one to do things based on Faith. So right there is my opinion on the matter. I am not easily persuaded by others, believe me, many have tried and failed, and I'd rather not get the subject pushed on me again But i will debate about it for those who are christian and would like to try and contradict me. <3 My View on Heaven and Hell: Well, first of all, if God truly was what he says he is, he is merciful and will not just throw you in Hell. Two, I don't believe in Heaven or Hell, so technically this doesn't affect me; I believe in reincarnation. Three, people who go to Hell are people who worship the devil and Satan. As long as you don't do that, God will be merciful. Fourth, I still don't believe in either, so it's hard to debate about that. xD One More Thing: All Gods have been made up so you feel you have something to look forward to after life and so you have something to devote yourself too during life. There are a number of gods who grant seconds lives and "heaven" and such, but none of us can be sure of it. Though I believe in reincarnation, I also believe that my body will rot underground and never be brought back to life. It's sort of contradictory, but I'm a realist. It makes more sense than everything else. The only thing I do believe in, is that my spirit will move on and join the spirit world. Call it Heaven, it is there that all my ancestors live and can be talked to by my chief, my uncle as of two years ago and my grandpa as of three years ago. ~Lupae |

In any case you're comparing the wrong set of circumstances. It should be between pray, bible, church, v.s. not doing all of those annoying and tedious things. But lets say you're right lets say it is better wager on there being a god. But wait, which god is the right god to wager on? There are 100s, 1000s of god's which is the right one to pray to? For according to you if its easier to worship I need to find the right god to worship. |

so, i totally just read this and laughed. just because i do not believe in god, does not mean that i don't believe there's nothing after. i don't think there is a heaven or a hell. i believe when we die, it just releases us from any pains that life has caused us and we can finally be completely happy.
i believe the after life is whatever you want it to be. its a place of release. |

Well being Deist I believe but anyway. I'd ask him "Just what sort of in and out the door fraud are you pulling? I lived a virtuous life, I was compassionate, I didn't kill and I didn't steal."
Believe me when I say if I'm going to hell, given Atheists and Deists along with Buddhists are some of the nicest people I've met I can say I'll be in good company. |
