@within: Still waiting for your reply on so called semantics.
I did that a long time ago.

I responded to you calling my words semantic...did you respond to that? It was a long post and I am unable to see any reply from you...please post it back up so I can see it, and I am sorry if I have missed it...but I have been searching...can't find it...

Im an atheist. And I honestly have pondered on the question of Heaven/Hell quite a bit. I've come to the conclusion I would prefer hell. I would prefer to be a ghost more tho, but I just would hate to be trapped in a perfect place. It would drive be crazy.

Then it would not be perfect. Ergo you must be wrong to assume that it would make you crazy, if heaven is a perfect place by definition.

So your saying it would not be perfect because perfect would not appease me? But that is making it once again perfect.

No I did not say it would not be perfect. I said that perfect would not drive you crazy.

What if your idea of a perfect world is one where you are crazy?

You know I was going to make that exception actually. I just didn't want to get stuck on little details like that xd

no you can do be loyal to both but if you have problems with that THEN its better to not get married and focus on god

But if loyalty to God is more important, why take a chance on it? The consequences are too great, are they not?

well because you have to ifyou didnt then all christians would be alone

What's more important? Being alone or loyalty to God?

There's the idea of a reasonable risk. Like I'm perfectly willing to go outside to grab something in a storm. While I might get struck by lightning it is not very likely. Similarly one can assess how likely they consider it that doing that would make them stray from their loyalty to God.

What if you died today (not believeing in god) and god sent you to hell , how would you react (keep in mind that hell is a place where maggots are treated better than humans) ???

and another question

Wouldnt it be easier to pray, read the bible, and go to church (which doesnt take
that much time) , rather than spend an eternity in hell ???

Some people think that hell is not a bad place to be but until you go there you will never know

Wouldn't it be easier to pray to Allah then to go to hell?
I'd rather go with my own religion, rather than pray to a god I don't believe exists.
Im going to guess you are a Christian judging by your beliefs, I used to be a Christian but something one of my church group leaders told me enlightened me. My church said that you needed to accept Jesus Christ as you savior in order to go to heaven, and when I asked what would happen to Jewish people, they basically told me they were damned. That was enough to tell me that religion was a little over-rated and incorrect.

How do you even know that their is a heaven or hell? Do you just believe that because you were told? For all we know we are reincarnated, and there is no proof of an existence after death. But if I did die today, I would be upset, seeing as I am trying to find a scientific way to cheat death, that is my career path.

I'm an agnostic, but I'll go with the drift and answer your pathetic little questions... well, more like the bolded part:

You're assuming hell exists here. Frankly, think about this logically. God is all love and kindness, and he's supposed to forgive and forget... then why make a place of eternal suffering in the afterlife for His greatest creation? That's a bit contradictory no? Also, sins are paid while you're alive. Everthing you do returns to you, sometimes even better, sometimes even worse. That's based on the Law of Cause and Effect, and don't go telling me it's bullshit, because EVERYTHING on this planet goes by that law. What's the use of a hell then?

Further more, as everyone says: praying without believing is of no use.
Also, what you are using here is the same method that Inquisitors (sp?) used years ago: make people fear about soemthing so they turn into Catholics or Christians... Give me a break, will you?

How the hell (lol'z, sorry XDD) do you know what hell is like if you've never been there? For all you know all the speculations based on a book written thousands of years ago by the hand of men and translated from language to language and interpreted by men could be wrong.

The thing is my fellow puertorican, though i'm not atheist i know enough about religion to know that simple praying isnt good enough, you need to know that what you believe in is true. Thats the thing about faith, do what you want, but religion without faith is nothing
I believe in God, but don't claim any intimate knowledge about him/her/them. It's hubris to even assume there is heaven/hell, this is God you are talking about. Who are you but a human to even think you understand a bit of his/her/their wisdom? I don't worry about if I'm wrong or anything about my beliefs and never try to defend them, beliefs can't be proven or disproved. That's what makes it a belief, you need to put some of yourself into the idea to make it true to you.

We agree on lots of things and we at least see where each other is coming from in regards to many other things.

However, one of us a bit of a loon and it ain't me.

Yet, you're the angry one...yet you get to be in Canada of all places? I'd love to experience the open minded wonder that I hear Canada is.
Seeing how in hell your blind, and are getting raped by many many demons It might just be enjoyable...

First of all, I don't care about hell because...well... I DON'T BELIEVE IN IT!!

Stop "scaring" us with your hell tales. Have you been there before? No? Then how the hell do you know what it's like down there (if that place even exists).

By the way, are you aware there are more religious to practice than just christianism? Not every religion believes in the same things you do, you know, so how can you be sure that what you believe is right? That's right, you can't. So stop bugging us and trying to convert us because it's not going to work.

And about the praying and going to church stuff: I think it's a total waste of time because I don't believe in all those things. Not going gives me more time to do homework or do something I really feel like doing. If you want to go to church in your spare time, well go ahead, I'm not stopping you. But let me stay home and do what I think is right: do homework and pass my exams so I can build up my future.

Thank you, good day.

you mean "Christianity"?

oh well sorry... english is not my mother tongue and I was tired yesterday... translating too literally from my own language... my apologies.

EDIT: btw, I think it's very sad of people who focus on the fact I got one word wrong instead of on what I'm actually saying. Get a life.
Cause those weren't loaded questions. rolleyes
