Welcome to Gaia! ::

Well now if god sent me to hell just because I did not believe he is real because he never decided to prove it then I will pull off what they did in tengen toppa gurren lagann and kill god. It is not a god of mine that would send me to hell just for being a nonbeliever.

What if you died today (not believeing in god) and god sent you to hell , how would you react (keep in mind that hell is a place where maggots are treated better than humans) ???

and another question

Wouldnt it be easier to pray, read the bible, and go to church (which doesnt take
that much time) , rather than spend an eternity in hell ???

Some people think that hell is not a bad place to be but until you go there you will never know

What if you die and you realize there's nothing there? It can go either way. Lots of people have a God they believe in and call it the one true God. You can't all be right. You're not any more right than someone else who believes in a God. On that point, why is "worshipping" God so important? Why isn't it enough that you're a good person?
Well, if there was nothing there, I wouldn't realize it. Now would I?

Yep, so it's pointless to think about what happens after death because you just don't know. It doesn't really matter either until you die. Worry about it when you die if you can think after death. That whole "soul" thing is confusing.
What if it's not pointless? The bible warns agaisnt this kind of thinking. You can't decide after you're dead. You already made your choice. And your choice was wrong.

Yeah, warns us cause the bible is scared to face the unknown.
And makes up an excuse for everything,
to make everything seem known and already proven to those who believe in it.
Oh my goodness, Pascal's wager fails in whatever form it may try and take. Well, I have a hypothetical for you. What if you die tomorrow as a perfect Christian? Then, you realize you have been re-incarnated as an Untouchable for eating beef because Hinduism was actually the correct religion. Whoops! So, yea....put simply, this question fails so hard.

I find it absurd people would get sent to hell despite being a good person. Why is not believing in God such a big deal? Why is it not enough that you were a good human being? I agree with you.

I fully agree.
Being an atheist and not believing that hell exists means that I don't have to waste my time reading the bible 'just in case'. If I did get sent to hell, i don't think i'd have time to react what with the whippings, slave labour and the molten rock creeping around my toes..

As an atheist, i have to say i don't like this question very much. Yeah like someone above posted. What if Hinduism is for real how would you feel? I think we'll read a "good" place if we do good things. In the future, I'll try to help charities and stuff. You don't have to be a christian to do good things. < - - that was kind of off topic

That would make God a humongous d**k. I'm, in my opinion, a wonderful person. If he punishes me for not worshipping him, that makes him one seriously ******** up individual.

And I wouldn't be sorry I hadn't worshipped him, either.

I believe in a power that created the world. Chance, fate, God... whatever you want to call it, it's some force. After death, I'm thinking that's it. If not, then my soul is bound to wander for eternity on Earth (not that I'd mind). If it turned out there is a God and I was sent to Hell for some reason, I would make the most of it. I wouldn't really have a reaction other than a shrug and "Oh, I was mistaken. Not the first time."

As for praying, reading the Bible, and going to church, my opinions differ on each topic. I do not pray to a God that my friends will live happy lives; I hope none of them get into harmful situations. I don't read the Bible because men who claimed to hear the voice of God wrote it. I don't go to church because I do not approve of someone telling me what God wants me to think; if he made the world and the rest of the universe, how hard is it for him to send me a dream?

My final opinion is this: What I do during my mortal life on Earth is far more valuble to me than what I may have to suffer in whatever afterlife awaits.

I wouldn't be too please, I'm sure.

Yep, that's why Christians do it. But seeing as I don't believe in hell, no, it wouldn't be easier to pray, read the bible, and go to church than to do absolutely nothing. You're using an appeal to fear here, which is a logical fallacy.
Troll

LOL

The nice thing is, people like this will commit a sin a few seconds before they die, not get forgiven for it in time, and go to hell. LOL
Assuming I actually got sent to hell? I would try to take over. In my morality, we be good in order to make the world good, so if all the people in hell began acting good and finding ways to make it a good place, hell would become heaven.

Even if you're all alone in hell, stuck in a pit of burning fire, you can recognize that hellfire has a certain beauty to it and concentrate on that until

Not that I want to have to do this. But I don't believe in worshiping something that might send you to hell for eternity. Not if he means it to remain a hell for you. Tough love is only actual love if it has your eventual growth in mind.

If you suddenly changed your mind when you saw hell, why wouldn't that be good enough for a second chance? No truly loving god would create a system like that.

Personally, I'd be willing to go through hell if it led to a greater good. And that's the only reason I can see for any sort of hell: as a pathway to a greater good. As there is no greater good than god, if god exists, hell cannot be eternal.

Also quoted for truth. you don't have to be a Christian to do good things.

You're correct in this. In fact, the Christians just modified scripture to fit with their already developed secular ethical framework, and made the State (in this case Rome but of course it got more complicated after that fell apart) the only doorway into salvation. The ethical behavior part had already been worked out, except for those quirky little cultural bits that everybody has always ignored anyway, or has modified to fit their own traditions anyway. So first we all did what Plato said was right, then we decided to do what Aristotle said was right. They just said that God had a change of heart. lol. Christianity.

Anyway, what's up with this argument from Christians all the time. Do they have such a base view of our human sapience that they don't see the total waste of a life lived under the belief of untruth? Without knowledge humans ain't sh*t. You may not actually KNOW anything, I guess I mean to say, but if you're not always searching for truth you don't really deserve the mantle "humanity." I think it's funny that they label themselves "sheep" with no hint of irony. Now THAT is a wasted life.
