Why should it be legalized?

Because it costs the government buttloads of money to keep it illegal.

Think of all the time cops are paid to find and bust these people. Think of all the money we pay to keep these people in jail just because they're smoking joints.

And it would also be a blow to people in Mexico trying to make money by illegally bringing that stuff to the U.S.

If we're not going to all out legalize marijuana we should at least decriminalize it.

So money essentially.

A lot of money and wasted time. Plus if it was actually regulated all those shady business practices would be phased out. No more dealers, and no more marijuana laced with god knows what. You could also argue that cigarettes and alcohol are worse drugs than marijuana, but they're legal because they're more socially acceptable.

I don't agree with legalization because it would cause a rise in workplace accidents and knowing western culture people would just abuse it.

People already use and abuse it just like alcohol and cigarettes. Prohibition doesn't work.
And if you're going to work high you're going to lose your job. Just like if you go in drunk.
drunk people are angry and violent, potheads tend to be peaceful and quiet:

In the war on drugs, or any war for that matter, you want a lot of fighters on your side, not a bunch of hippies.

all you need to do is sit through 45 minutes of bullshit video documentaries on Al Capone to see him hosing down people with Tommy Guns. If you look up pot head videos, you are more like to see a bunch of dumbasses sitting on a couch with tie dye t shirts and a bong. One of these two groups has the motivation and capacity to fight for what they want, the other is soylent green waiting to happen.
I also agree that alcohol is worse than marijuana. It causes so many problems in today's society, drink driving, resulting in car crashes and people getting injured and dying. And also domestic violence and assault and other illegal behaviors brought on by being seriously drunk.

I don't really know why pot is illegal, perhaps because it's always been seen and labeled as a narcotic.
And I don't know how in the world the government would succeed at changing that.
Because the millions of people who have been put in prison, probation, and other consequences faced by possessing, manufacturing, selling marijuana etc. What would they do about that? They can't just change the law when millions have already been punished for it, cause what about all those people who have done time, done a criminal record, had their kids taken away, because of its illegal status? Theres no way they could change the status to legal after the significant amount of law enforcement put upon marijuana.

it's not as simple as alcohol, theres backlash with marijuana

i mean city and states can deem it legal but tell that to the feds when

recent reports have shown that federal governments continue to close down medical marijuana
dispensaries especially when the workers try to unionize.

just recently about 500 people lost their jobs because of that.

Marijuana's legal where I live, woopie! Too bad I don't really care.

Alcohol may cause human deaths, but Marijuana causes the deaths of millions of poor little brain cells.
Politics and money. As always.

Dapper Phantom

Now I'm not a certified specialist on this subject, but I'm pretty sure that using marijuana (as well as alcohol) can lead to some long term effects, especially if used everyday or in large amounts. Marijuana can cause the heart to beat faster and then could lead to heart attack. In fact, using marijuana increases that chance for a heart attack. It also lowers the blood pressure. It causes the same problems that tobacco smokers exhibit, but the important thing to know is that it contains a higher amount of carcinogenic hydrocarbons which can cause cancer.

Not to mention, like alcohol, marijuana-use can affect other members of the family. It's a very emotional subject, and it also costs a lot of money depending on how much one buys. That money can be used for more important things than something as trivial as pot. It's not a gateway drug--it's just something that makes people addicted and ruins family bonds.

So really, both of these have similar effects but one is just more effective than the other in the way that alcohol reacts quicker.

My opinion? Both are bad. I've done both, and realized that the money and the way I felt are DEFINITELY not worth it. confused

Why do I have to be a dipshit? I didnt say you were a smoker, I figured you might be.

Darkesu's Darling

Your statement is a very poor justification for why hash should be legalized. Granted, I do believe weed should be legalized.

Aged Conversationalist

Because the distribution of alcohol can be regulated easily.

I'm sure once the government can do the same with marijuana, it'll be legalized as well.
Weed is 100% safe? No. Not even close. You inhale smoke which causes lung cancer. You are then intoxicated and unable to adequately react to ANY situation. You can go to prison, and get stabbed to death. You can get shot by clients, dealers,Vigilantes. People look down on you, you have no money, depression, suicide. This is YOUR future. You WILL loose your job, friends, family. And then there will be me, making over 100 thousand a year, and thinking what a pathetic waste of space you all are. When you buy weed, you support dealers. Dealers sell other directly harmful drugs such as cocaine, and assuming they dont get caught by police (they will) they will see people die as a DIRECT result of themselves and their stupid actions. They will watch people make themselves homeless and they dont care. When you buy weed you directly support gangs who kill people. Oh you buy from just a typical guy who sells typical weed? You are ******** up there lives that's what. Your ******** up your own lives. You are doing this to your ******** friends. 90% Of major gangs exist because of drugs, and YOU support them. Think you can grow your own? HAHA! you WILL get charged with dealing, and lose a massive chunk of your life to prison and put your family into debt. Have some ******** common sense, Never do drugs. Drugs (THAT MEANS WEED TOO IDIOTS) cause more homelessness and murders than you can ******** imagine. Grow some balls, and get a ******** life. Go ahead, argue. Everything I just said is 100% true, you are just to ******** stoned to give a s**t.
