Cartoons lead to a possible depression because it isn't reality based,
which could leave the person who watches, hypnotized and distracted from the real issues around them, making it worse.
An accumulation of problems rise as you sit and stare at a bright colorful box, hun'.

It's good to watch some silly things every now and then,
but don't spend hours on it.

Associate your joys wherever you may find them. Happiness is not a solid thing, otherwise the same things would make us happy day after day after day.

Just try eating nothing but chocolate cake, or having unrelenting sex all night. The idea of joy being associated with a thing quickly fades away.

I can personally attest to my joys being skewed in the light of other gnoses.

Once i reveled in the satisfaction of sadism, inflicting pain on others when i could not justify the sorrow that was placed onto me.

I don't think i can say that i've changed for the better, suffice it to say that i have a deeper understanding about the machinations of people and their perception of joy thanks to this change.

Personal anecdotes aside, it is different for every person, and changes constantly with the tides of their surroundings.

Good question. I would say the first step is defining what happiness is to you, and then working towards your definition of happiness. Working towards happiness should be intrinsically happy on its own, I suppose, unless you're working toward the wrong thing. I don't think anyone can know with complete certainty how to attain happiness.
