1 John 4:7-12, NIV
Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.
These verses, properly interpreted and read, not misquote or drug out of context, show that God is behind all forms of love, and that lust and prostitutional fornication are the sexual sins mentioned. The verses from 1 John specifically refer to unconditional love. It states that any love that is unconditional is from God. Homosexuals can love their partners unconditionally, therefore, can have unions blessed by God.
It says love. It says unconditional love. It doesn't say the type of love that includes sex thank you very much.
I'm a christian. I am not against gay or bis. I'm against people twisting words to their purposes.
I'm also against causing their unions marriages, but I am not against them have the same rights legally.
And they can love unconditionally. But who says they are? No one loves unconditionally. Everyone wants something from everyone else. Even if it is only for them to be there to listen. If they weren't doing what they wanted from them-they wouldn't stick around.
And this includes me.
What does that mean? You are against Marriage, correct? Or are you also against Civil Union?
Well, which ever you chose, it's still going to conclude at the same key point: You are against gays having all the legal rights that heterosexuals currently have.
--Or I misinterpreted your statement. Are you, maybe,
for Civil Union and/or Marriage?
For those who are not the traditional couple I am against it being called marriage, but they should have the same rights. I don't see how that's not homosexuals having the same rights.
I'm saying they should-tax s**t and all that. Just that they shouldn't call it marriage, but I'm not too big on marriage period.
"OMG, you're atheist! You shouldn't be able to call it marriage, either, because you don't believe the same as me and you're violating my beliefs!"
What does homosexuality have to do with religious beliefs? I never said homosexuality was a sin. I quoted loosely a translation of the bible to have a valid point for that translation.
Homosexuality is something you are not what you "believe"
I know homosexual christians by the way.
And I won't call it marriage. There's another word for it CIVIL UNION. It is the same thing-just a nicer term so people don't get pissed off.
If you are homosexual and in a civil union-and you know you're talking to a christian-it would be called being polite and trying not to offend them.
I just don't like it being called marriage. I'd rather it be called civil unions. Same for the people who marry for convience of tax returns and the like.
