What needs to be separated is god condemning homosexuality and god condemning homosexual activity. He speakes against homosexual sex- but there is nothing against homosexuality itself.

God only spoke against homosexual male sexual activity. And that no longer applies, either.

Zoreta
The main thing here is the loop hole. The bible condemns sex outside marriage. However, homosexuals aren't allowed to marry- therefore, they can not have sex. The latter is based on the former- a classic loophole.

They cannot have sex without sinning, yes. The answer to this is to let them marry.
Yes so they can still sin but be married

Wrong and wrong again. Note: The sin is premarital sex. You know what else is a sin? Breaking the Law of Agape. By not letting gays marry, you are sinning AND having them sin if they wish to have sex. Let them marry, and you've knocked out your sins and their's.

people can have children with someone they love?

Guess what, gays can do that too!

Ever hear of in vitro fertilization? Surrogate parenting?

ADOPTION!?

After all, you know, I have to agree, god forbid those older, minority, and special needs kids get ignored while all the hot white fetii are snatched up before they're even born.
I was not aware members of the same sex could pro create with one another

Saltski gave methods that allow same-sex couples to raise children.

Yeah, that's pretty obvious.

And that matters why....?

Oh, will you SHUT UP?

What sanctity does it have now, anyway? With the divorce rates as they are and streets abound with whorehouses, love affairs, what have you, who are you to damn two people who LOVE each other and want to bind each other together, both as an expression of their love and an attempt to get a leg-up on the new life they're trying to start together?

You've given no good reasons as to WHY they SHOULDN'T be married that isn't based on fallacious reasoning. So why don't you clam up already and let us live our lives?
Marriage has been between a man and a woman call it personal partnerships for all I care, oh and good fallicious bit about love having to be a precursor to marriage

Good fallacious bit about, "It's always been that way."

Good lord. Funny thing, By The By. It HASN'T always been man+woman marriages. Same sex marriages used to occur long ago. Still do, as a matter of fact.

And sodomy is a sin too, but thanks for trying to tell me what I should believe in with all these amusing threads

In Biblical terms, sodomy would be what the citizens of Sodom did, right?

Sin: A defined transgression against the Judeo-Christian God.

Now, show me where sodomy is defined as a transgression against God.

I dare you.

By the way, Cyph. I'm not telling you what to believe. Rather, I'm informing a group of people lacking in knowledge the proper things they should know. Believe what you want. You'd still be an idiot that refuses to learn to read the OP or know what you're talking about.

Belief is a personal matter, I can beilieve that the earth is flat all I want but the facts prove me wrong. You can beileve that scripture condemns homosexuality all you want but the actual writings say otherwise. As for current print editions of the bible well those are all translated and very much affected by the prejudices of their compilators. If you don't believe me then get a few different editions from around the world and compare them.

It is human nature to seek conflict, It is civilization's purpose to subvert that nature.

Reality is the greatest illusion of all.

Awwww, Cyph is back.

And he's throwing around assertions without proof and making an a** out of himself again.

How cute.

this is true, if god turely loves everyone then it would love gay people because they dont have a choice and thus god must love all his children the way it created them because it made them that way so unless it's really mean and cruel it wouldn't laugh at it's own children

Quote:
1 Corinthians 6:12-18, NIV Everything is permissible for me"—but not everything is beneficial. "Everything is permissible for me"—but I will not be mastered by anything. "Food for the stomach and the stomach for food"—but God will destroy them both. The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. By his power God raised the Lord from the dead, and he will raise us also. Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ himself? Shall I then take the members of Christ and unite them with a prostitute? Never! Do you not know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body? For it is said, "The two will become one flesh." But he who unites himself with the Lord is one with him in spirit.

Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body.

This verse says to "flee sexual immorality", but it only mentions whoring yourself. Further, to prove that God condones ALL forms of love, including homosexual love:

I must say it's odd you quote that verse... look three verses earlier in 1 corinthians 6:9
(but before the flame starts.. I agree homosexuality is okay and *shrugs* I'm just talking about the Bible..and what the NIV says, as this man has put forward such as his argument)

but the quote from the NIV... (as that's what's being used here for purpose of this debate as per his given, I will happily concede the point... that other translations read differently and we can talk all day about how indeed the true greek translations there's a debate about the way the root was translated and such, but this man put forward the NIV as his "proof" )

Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders

The use of the word homosexual in the NIV is actually a massive mistranslation.

The word in question was a word created by Paul to describe pedastry.

Well I'm not arguing that point poetic, *shrugs* though if we're to accept other translations on this point, then we have to accept other translations on all points.... In this debate he laid out the NIV as what we were to go by.... Though there is still "Debate" about whether the translation was flawed or not, on both sides of that topic...

EDIT: though granted the term homosexual *IS* a newer term...

EDIT 2: If we Don't accept other translations and such available on other points but we do on "that point" it would be 'picking and choosing' the parts of the bible we want and throwing out the rest.... as the NIV is what he was using for the rest.. the NIV is what's quoted there. It seems the NIV is the "standard" or "given" for this debate.

Yeah, homosexual was definately not in use until the late 1800s.

and with such a blatant translational issue, I figure even with the NIV being our primary discussion point, its relevant.
