Misconceptions? Okay, so a study that 'proved' that food being cooked causes cancer is a misconception?

Proof of said study?
In addition, it was likely "Food cooked in teflon coated cookware may cause cancer."

If a study says MAY that means it MIGHT. It doesn't mean go out and sell all your cookware and use only wooden tools. It also doesn't mean you can eat that steak with little flakes of teflon from the pan on it.

In addition, there's always bad science. If the research is done improplerly, then you get different results every year. Hence why eggs are so bad and good for you, depending upon the point in time.

Leucrotta
Okay, I relent that not all scientists are atheists. In fact, most who've tried to dis-prove the existence of God come out as Christians. But they still aren't the most accurate in my book.

Any scientist who tries to prove or disprove of God isn't practicing science. Science does not even touch upon what cannot be explained or has no evidence supporting or unsupporting of the case at hand.
Leucrotta
Oh yeah, and to the tune of scientific evidence, I'm not the most trusting in scientists. They think the world is going to explode,

Proof of reputable scientists saying that
Quote:
that food being cooked causes cancer,

I've heard of that. Only when you cook it in a microwave with saran wrap over it, though. SO if thats not the instance yo're thinking of, proof.
Quote:
and that God doesn't exist.

Because theres no scientific evidence he does exist. You're going to distrust everything someone says because they don't believe in your god? Wow.
Also, there are christian scientists.

Leucrotta
For the first comment: My Uncle Johnny was a gay man. Everyone knew it. He lusted after men. However, once he became a Chirstian, he never did so again. He resisted. He won. So... I think it can happen... Everyone is born with temptations.

Bull. I bet he's lying about it, or he's repressing it and pretending guys dont' turn him on. Repression isn't healthy, it causes stress and severe mental anxiety. Why should a person have to push down what naturally occurs to them, and isn't harmful to anyone, and possibly suffer what can happen from repression?

Also, its not a choice. Someone already lsited scientific support for that, but heres a P.E:
I didn't choose to like girls and guys. Really. It was just always like that for me.At first I didn't understand it and pretended I only liked boys like the rest of my friends, but eventually I grew up an embraced it. Believe me, I wouldn't haev chosen to, when I came out with it I lost my best friend and have dealt with people making snide comments about it ever since. Thats not something people are just gonna choose to do.

Misconceptions and genralisations... No wonder you don't believe in scientists.

Link to the study? I have never heard of it.

And I happen to be in the field of biology.

Actually false. Only a small number of scientists have tried to disprove the existance of the Judeo Christian God, and an even smaller number have become Christian out of that group.

Most just come to the realization that they can't disprove something like a deity because it can't be proven or disproven.

But they still aren't the most accurate in my book.

Your book is quite off. It sounds to me like you don't know a lot about scientists or science.
You know what? This argument is getting a bit crazy on my end...

I mean, look at it from my perspective: in the sense that I am one stubborn person who's trying to argue a very serious point with like... ten other people who oppose her. >___>; I'm sorry, but this is a little one-sided.

It's 4:30 am, I only got 5 hours of sleep last night. I might have to call this quits.

Considering (if I remember correctly) it was food being cooked in certain ways in certain devices for certain periods of time, yes. I don't see many scientists claiming that consuming raw meat is healthy, unless they're reneging on their whole 'salmonella is bad' stance...

Most as a matter of fact.

Quote:

No scientist has ever tried to disprove the existence of your deity as he exists outside the parameters of science. I assume that was a reference to Strobel who was transparently Christian walking into his 'research' on the topic.
Um, science isn't here to talk about morality.

That's what philosophy or religion is for.
Leucrotta
Hmm... okay. So all these arguments are based in science. Which I have little faith in when it comes to deciding morality. ;3 Sorry, just not working for me.

Oooooh! I get it! So it's completely moral to lie to others, yourself, and God. Deny yourself true intimate love, or try to achieve it while being repulsed by your partner. To likely live a life of absolute sorrow, unhappiness, and abstinence. All of this, because God doesn't love love? That makes perfect sense. rolleyes

This isn't even touching upon what you're doing, and that's judging others. To force them (socially or verbally, and even sometimes through law) to follow your "morals" which are questionable already.

Here's a hint, homosexuality is completely moral to many Christians. Maybe you should take a page from their good books, and stop judging others? Stop putting your own prejudices into the bible, and start being accepting towards others.

Jaaten Syric

@ Rein: many thanks for single-handedly rebuilding my long lost homosexuality debate folder. I owe you one.

Don't thank me, thank Google and Wiki. XD

Understandable.

Its one sided mostly because we have a lot of material backing us, and you don't.

That could be because you need to research more, or it could be because we are right.

The assessment is yours to make.

Keep in mind, being stubborn when good evidence is given to you reaches high levels of idiocy.

Its fine to be stubborn, but being foolishly so is very bad.

Go get sleep, honey. Don't let Gaia hurt your health. You can always come back tomorrow or another day.

I would only point out that there was once a man who had only 13 against an entire religion and empire combined. He may have died, but he still went on teaching what he believed in.

I think it's one-sided because I'm being bombarded with questions that I don't have the answers to. I'm not an expert, and if one so happens to come along, I'll leave it to them.
Perhaps this is giving up, but I'd rather drop out than mess up and lead people astray. Not that any of you were being led by me in the first place... >__> But you do understand, right?

Loki, less about you and some of your friends from the secret society, more about Jesus. This is a thread about Christianity after all. 3nodding xd

I know who you refer to. But I am not the Son of God. I am not nearly as knowledgeable as he. I mean... we're not even... man. No comparison. So... Sorry. I'd love to growl and bare fangs longer, but it isn't doing me any good here.

Sorry about that, I've been in a position like that(had nearly a whole thread arguing against me) but y'know, I eventually stopped being stubborn, listened to what they said and realized I was wrong.
Stubborness is all well and good except when it hurts you because you refuse to listen to others or atcually learn because of it.

Understandable. Just want to let you know, lots of people that have studied the Bible in depth, know loads about the physical sciences and are very well read have also been unable to best us in debate about this.

In fact we are quite undefeated.

I would think that counts for something right?

I understand. But stick around to read the arguments raised, okay? This is information and debate that affects you personally.

You should really be here so you're informed about it all.

Okay?
I think... I wll go now. It's been kind of fun debating, but... exhausting. x3 I get too into this stuff. Not to say it isn't important, but... well, nevermind.
