it's good that you're putting this out there. i think gay people should be married if they want. i'm bi, and if i fall in love with a guy, i want to have the right to be with him the same way i would if i'd fallen for a girl.

and, i don't think sex is gross at all. not straight or gay sex.

Zack_G: Isn't it much like what Hitler did to the Jews. He blamed them for things that they didn't do, like the plague. That and it included things that non-Jew's did. There actually is a reason why they blamed the jews for the plague. While the rest of Europe is dieing from the plague, the jews are infected less. This has to do with the jewish tradition that you must wash your hand 3 times in the morning. Since everyone else does not wash when they eat or as a matter of fact for anything. The jews by washing their hands are cleaner than the others and therefore lessening their chance of getting the plague.

If we allow for homosexual marriage, then more people will come out of the closet and more people will become homosexuals!
Okay... that in a way is true. If we let homosexuals get married more people will come out of the closet because they feel more accepted than they once were. The only reason this has taken so long is because homosexuality was viewed as wrong for so long a time. That and people won't be so worried about persecution and will accept themselves for what they really are instead of living a miserable life of not knowing.

Hehehe, I find that slightly odd and just a little entertaining. If we allow gays to marry, more people will NOT come out. A person who is gay is gay no matter if they are out or not.
Simply being out or not being out does not affect the total number of gays, its only the amount we know about!

Good point, probably a good 70 - 80% of gays, lesbians, and bi's out there are afriad to admit their sexuality to themselves or others due to all the teasing or bulling they might recive. That and the fear of being disowned by their family and friends. Then again, for those that belive that there will be more, they will think themselves to be right all because the people who really are gay, (lesbian, and bi (though gays seem to be their ownly worries,)) will see more people "coming out," there fore they will think that there is a population increase in gays, (because we all know that lesbians and bi's don't exist (and for those that didn't get it, that was scarcasum,)) and not a higher willing to accept what you really are. Not what others want you to be.

Yeah, it was only one typo, not that I wanta get into this fight, but it was. "Ome" I take as hitting the m instead of the n key while typing to fast. And AznAlex, some people people are very critical about about caps, spelling, and grammar. I know I make spelling mistake and typo's as well, but caps, grammar, and losing the word "u" will not only help keep you from getting yelled at, but will probably make a person seem more respectable weither a post they make looks like bullshit. I'm not saying yours was, I'm just saying that good English and a bullshit posts, is better than L33T and a bullshit post. Pick the lesser of the two evils.

Alright well i didnt' get through this whole thing yet but i would assume that if you received any new myths you would edit them into the first post so here is some new material!

Homosexual men are ***** so they shouldn't be able to adopt.
This is absolutly FALSE. Most of the research done on this is with convicted ***** which means they are already in prison. Can any one guess what generally happens in prison? In all actuality ***** sexual development never progressed past childhood which is why they are still atracted to children.

Homosexuals have nothing to gain we should just let them marry.
Thhis i know is a reason to let them but it bothers me. They have the following things to gain(and some i'm sure i'm forgetting):
-Hospital visitation rights
-Legal decision if the other is incapacitated
-Inheritance without a will
-Inter Partner health care extensions
-Custody of adopted children even without having been co adopted
-Being able to marry a foreighn national and have them become a us citizen
- I know i'm forgetting some but this will just have to grwo over time.


Marriage is an unchanging institution
Well, It was not but 50 years ago before interaccial marriage was allowed. Also, The support for allowing interaccial marriage was about the same as allowing gay marriage now!

An extension on the arguement:
Any relgious reason as a moral arguement to deny someone something is legally unfounded ill based and unuseable. The onyl reason that gay marriage can continue to be denied to people is if it cause harm to individuals and society. So, if gay marriage harms children why are single gays allowed to adopt in states that don't have gay marriage? That i would like someone to explain to me.

Nice points. Yeah, we've got some myths cleared up, but I haven't edited them in yet, I'm a little lazy to do so, that an the orginal post is so freaking long I don't know how many people want to read through a post that has been edited over and over. Thanks for clearing up those myths though, I'm sure that will help some more people understand what is going on.

Well i can see why you wouldn't want to edit that first one again it is time consuming. My thought was just that if it was added to the fron that people would know what had been over and wouldn't have to read through 39 pages to participate. Since, this thread is supposed to be informative. Though that is just my view it is still well doen. I thought most people would be in bed i'm so used to not getting replys until much later.

You are right, it would be a heck of a lot better idea. Oh, and it's 3 Am here. I'm surcoming to the teenage biological clock the days I can't be tried and sleep until it says I can. Which is probably why I'll sleep in till 1 pm and then have trouble falling asleep at 1 am tonight for a 6:10 wake up call... Yeah, it's only teens and their damned biological clock that are up this late. I've been meaning to edit in the posts, I just haven't done it yet. Yeah it's 1am here it's just my insomnia albeit not that bad. You know what bothers me about this debate as well is that " The untied states was founded on christian values and the bible and we hav e to uphold it". It's is just wrong on so many levels. First the founding fathers wanted to seperate themselves fromt eh church because at the time it was persecuting any one who didn't believe like it. Funny how when someone escapes religious persecusion they persecute sombody else. Also it is clear that the principles are based off key philosphy at the time. i don't know it's like people think that we would allow murder without the bible even though it is integral to society formation. perhapes i'm just ranting heh

The founding fathers were agonostic, as far as I know. But we weren't formed on Christian princibles, maybe a few Christian ideas though. Ironical the man that wrote the United States Consitution owned slaves. After all, aren't "all men created equal?" Then again, all men does not include slaves who are "property." I know a lot of things in the bible just so happen to be against things that I can actualy understand. I mean no stealing, that is kind of a no duh. Don't lie, well, that's a good idea, but do people really follow that. I watched a show on something that said that humans tend to lie without knowing it. So in a sence everyone is a lier and there fore going to hell. Even white lies count. Kinda sad isn't it how humans are so hypocritical of themselves and others.
