I agree with you, a friendly punch on the arm and whatnot is one thing, but if you really try to hurt someone, male or female they should have the right to defend themselves, but i'm also of the mind that you should do as little as possible to resolve the confrontation, I know men who would never hit a woman in any circumstance, and I respect that, I also respect that people can defend themselves.
