ADOLF HITLER

Hitler was an evil b*****d, but he was one of the few in the modern world that actually made a significant mark world-wide in his own aspirations. So he wanted to kill a bunch of jews, he still had a diobolical dream he was determined to carry out, and I'm sure he would have if things went slightly different. Hitler was amazingly gifted in leadership, public speakings, and military prowess. He even single-handedly rose Germany out of depression with his campaign. Not to mention, as my last thread reminded me, he rose from a good-for-nothing in the military to the leader of the whole country in a very short amount of time, that takes mad skill and a strong pimp hand.

Here's a part of his article from Wikipedia:

Wikipedia
Adolf Hitler (20 April 1889 – 30 April 1945) was the leader of National Socialist (Nazi) German Workers Party. He was appointed Chancellor of Germany in 1933, becoming "Führer" in 1934 until his suicide in 1945.

The Nazis gained power during Germany's period of crisis after World War I. They used propaganda and charismatic oratory, emphasizing nationalism, anti-Semitism, and anti-Communism. After restructuring the economy and rearming the military, a totalitarian dictatorship based around the Führer was established. Hitler pursued an aggressive foreign policy, with an ideological goal of Lebensraum (expanding living space for Germans). The German Invasion of Poland in 1939 triggered armed conflict between the British and French Empires (the Allies) and Germany.

The Axis Powers occupied most of Europe and parts of Asia at their zenith but were eventually defeated by the Allies. By the end of the war, Hitler's policies of territorial conquest and racial subjugation had brought death and destruction to tens of millions of people, including the genocide of some six million Jews in what is now known as the Holocaust.

In the final days of the war, Hitler and his new wife, Eva Braun, committed suicide in his underground bunker in Berlin, as the city was overrun by the Red Army of the Soviet Union.

Yes, the holocaust was bad, but there are other notable genocides of human populous that people widely overlook because of popularity.
The red and black plagues.
Hiroshima and Nagasaki atomic bombs.
Breakouts of viruses before we had cures.
Not to mention other wars in general.
Actually, Hiroshima and Nagasaki were worse than the holocaust, since they wiped out everything for many square miles, and even affected later generations.
But I'm off the point.

Also, who can say it's entirely Hitler's fault? Maybe someone else put the jewish subjegation into his head, as well as his way of doing things to help his country, which is what any leader would want to do.
Now the real discussion shall be thus:

Why Hitler was a great man, I know I missed things.
What would of happened if he won.
Influences to this very day because of his actions.

NOTE:
I had to remake because my first thread was "a copy from Wikipedia" What they don't understand is that it had 20 pages of intelligent discussion that isn't on Wikipedia.
There's more original content here than Wikipedia, now, leave my thread alone. Also, when I get notable posts, I will quote them on this one to add even more content for people who don't want to read through what I hope to be many pages.

i think hitlar was great too
LULZ HEETLAR
I still don't think he did anything worthwhile for his country,

and therefore do not think he is at all great.
Am I the only one in this thread that can spell Hitler so far?

Well, that's sad.

I'll just focus on this now. Of course it's not entirely Hitler's fault. He called for the extermination of all non-Aryans, Christians, heterosexuals, etc; but did anyone have to follow him? Did any of his soldiers really have to follow through with his orders? Did any of the public really have to believe his words? Granted that would have meant a coup would be necessary to oust the bad dictator, but certainly, if the people were dead-set in taking down such a horrific leader, they would have done it?

He simply manipulated the public's biases. He was a great speaker, but speeches only work so well unless you already had that grain of doubt or suspicion in you. You can't give a hippie a speech about violence and get them to grab a gun unless they don't fully believe in peace; a die-hard Christian isn't going to become Atheist unless he had some doubt about his religion to begin with.

Hitler carefully chose scapegoats, then let his ideas take flight.

He may have been a good talker, but attacking the Russians was bloody stupid. If he'd stayed on their good side, he might have won the war, or at least there might have been some outcome more favourable for him in the end.

... wait. That'd generally be considered bad, wouldn't it?

To be honest, I don't think much of him.

Well there is no arguing he was a lousy tactician, and he had a bad habit of ignoring his generals. Sounds familiar? xp

Where in the world did you hear he was a drug addict? And I wouldn't call it a suicide fetish. Merely suicide.

To the OP, I think 'great' is the wrong word. He was a frickin political, economic, and rhetoric genious. I'm not sure why people are saying he was a bad tactician, seeing as he might have won the war were certain conditions correct. A large part of his loss in the war was the abnormal speed with which the Russians mobilized troops.
But of course, then you weigh in the whole scapegoating and Holocaust, and that makes the word 'great' seem out of place. Genious, but insane. That is what I have always seen him as.

I don't think so. I dunno, this is just what my history teacher told me but I believe the turning point of the war happened when the British bombed Berlin and Hitler got pissed, let his feelings get the best of his military desicions and began to bomb London instead of the British bases. This allowed Britian to get back on their feet militarily.

And I think he needed Stalin in order to finish the war. People like Hitler can start a war easily but they sure as hell can't finish it.
