Agreed. Mormonism is quite a bit different then say....modern day Christianity. I guess the best comparison I have is that it's a lot like scientology.

What upsets me about it is that Mormonism has been proven wrong by both historians and scientists; yet Mormons still feel the need to impose their radical religious beliefs on others. That isn't just denial. That is sick and oppressive denial.

and don't get me started on the FLDS....

Actually Mormonism can be proven right in more ways than it can be proven wrong

Here is a whole giant section of the book of Mormon proven wrong

http://articles.latimes.com/2006/feb/16/local/me-mormon16

The problem with Mormonism is that it was created so recently that scientists and historians can still debunk it.

The Book of Mormon is complete fiction with zero connections to any places, artifacts, history whatsoever whereas the Bible has quite the opposite. Not everything in the Bible and perhaps very little of it is actual history but Catholics are not required to view it as literal history.

Mormons have the Pearl of Great Price which was written "by Moses" and it is to be taken literally. It contains a version of the biblical garden mythos, except for Mormons this literally happened.

You cannot prove that WHATsoever. There is more proof than you know of, you just want to disprove it so bad that you most likely never looked from proof to support it.

You're shifting the burden, there. It's not Noora's job to look for proof of what she doesn't believe in. It's the believer's job to provide that proof.

Thank you Kaosgirl. I did completely dismantle and shred Mormonism on the Mormon FAQ the first year I joined GAIA. They refused to concede the thread to me and my thanks was to be hounded ever after by angry Mormons stalking my poosts and reporting me for spam.

All you had to say was that it was your Mother, silly boots. Now I know what is up your tail pipe over me, however. You are a Mormon of record and have not quite left the church you are just inactive at the present. You are still a Mormon and your friend is praying for you.

How have I 'not quite left the church' yet? How do you suggest I leave the church in actuality?
And stop acting like you know what my friends do or pray for.

You are still defenind the indefensible. So you are saying that your Mormon friends do not pray for you to come back into the fold? That would be quite anomalous.

I'm still waiting to see this infallible proof that the Mormon church is the only true church. Aging here, aging.

Well you're the one who said it was proven by history, archeology, etc. Site your (unbiased) sources.

I'm not defending Mormonism, if that's what you're saying. I dislike Mormonism as much as the next guy (possibly more due to its death grip on my state). I'm saying that not all Mormons are how you think they are, and you can be close to a Mormon without being a Mormon.
Mom doesn't really care that I'm out of the religion. She's happy I'm following my heart and whatnot.
My friend who is on her mission believes that all religions have their own truth in them, and the LDS church is what is right for her, and hopes I find a religion to make me as happy as hers makes her. (This was when I was 'soul searching' before deciding I really am an Atheist.)
My other friend doesn't really pray. Hence everyone telling her she's a "bad Mormon." At church and during 'bad situations' she does.
So, good golly gosh people of a certain religion don't fit into a nice little cookie cutter shape that Noora thinks they do. Whoda thunk that there were different strokes for different folks? rolleyes

I'd still like to know how I haven't left the church, since you seem to know. Please, please inform me, or I'd like you to retract your statement that I'm now an inactive member, rather than a non-member.

I would have thought there were different strokes for different folks as well. However, religions that actively take an anti-Catholic stance and who have members, such as Glenn Beck who purport to "Question Everything" and yet do not question the obvious while at the same time pretending to be American History experts --- it bothers me.

This is not about Noora, this is about Mormons. You keep making it about me because you are defensive about Mormonism and my stand against the corruption and fraud of Mormonism has made it impossible for you to be even civil toward me.

I don't see how she's doing that at all.
(Which, of course, makes it hard for me to comment on speculation about why she's doing it.)

I would never debate you on something so trivial. It is my perception that she has deliberately gone after me because of my views on Mormonism. However, if you do not see it I conecde to you that this is my bad manners. Please forgive me.

People don't always agree with their religion 100%. Just because the Mormon church says something, doesn't mean all their members agree with it. Just because Glenn Beck says something doesn't mean all the members agree with that, either. The Church obviously supported Prop H8, but there were also groups like "Mormon's against Prop 8" (paraphrasing that, I could find the actual group- if you really wanted to).
I'm going to ask you to prove to me that you cannot be close to a Mormon without becoming a Mormon yourself. Since you made that initial claim, I would like you to prove this or concede.
ALSO, I WOULD LIKE PROOF ON HOW I AM NOT A NON-MEMBER BUT ONLY INACTIVE, PLEASE. Either back that s**t up or make your concession.

I cannot concede to what you so obviously live through every action toward me. I backed down to Kaosgirl, but I am not backing down to you. Why should I? When have you ever given me a moments peace or any single act of kindness since I arrived here on this website?

Your wrath is based on your defensiveness of your family's mormonism.
