Greenpeace is not an organization based on science. It is an institution based on rage and self-righteousness, and only escapes the definition of terrorism for its public antics for how lame it is.
I’m a regular person, all things considered. I read a science article from the monthly in my bathroom once in awhile, and I take what I can get from it. This morning that article was about how the victorious comeback of whales in the Caspian (or whatever region) from the brink of extinction turned out to be a mixed blessing. See, when their numbers climbed back up due to harsh regulations on whaling their natural food source (Crail/Crill, shrimp-type crustaceans) took a tumble. This is why the native hunters representing northern tribes on both sides of the Atlantic have been finding ‘smelly’ whale unfit for consumption. Scientists thought it was because of pollution, but it’s because the whales have changed foods. They’ve gone on an Atkins diet, eating a lot of fish like cod, which means they’re burning their blubber for energy. It’s the same reason why you shouldn’t go on an Atkins diet; your breath will stink as a sign of being unhealthy. So I’m sitting there, looking up from my page and I hear from the morning news television about some other horseshit thing Greenpeace has managed to do. They don’t even isolate issues; they just go straight to the public’s mouth and rant about corporate culture, and if they’re feeling edgy that day they pull a stunt that annoys us more than anything. If I were an organized environmentalist (I’m not, sue me), I wouldn’t raise Crill shortage awareness by scaling a public office to show my fellow hairy friends how much gusto I have for the Earth. They’re idealists but they’re assholes, is what I’m saying. What is law enforcement supposed to do when an organization like Greenpeace oversteps its boundaries and throws effectiveness to the wind and relies on often dishonest and dangerous publicity stunts? |
