I think after a certain point... forced sterilization should definitely be an option. These days... ******** religious views and values I say, they don't need to be bringing in and raising clones of themselves to do just the same thing. It makes me think of the opening of Idiocracy.
Religious views are not the problem.
Anytime forced sterilization is discussed, EVERYONE has a different idea about who should be sterilized. What makes your opinion the one we should follow?
Did I say we need to follow mine? Forgive me for expressing my opinion on a forum.
Sorry, I was under the impression we were in a discussion forum. rolleyes
Just because someone has an opinion doesn't mean that someone else can't question it. I mean, that's the whole point of having a discussion. But if you didn't want to elaborate, you didn't have to respond.

Well the way you worded your post, it was as if you were insinuated that I thought my word was law and that everyone should side with me. Which is not true at all. I didn't elaborate because I think my sisters past is enough to justify my stance on the topic. Not to mention, we just found out my sister is already pregnant again. So baby #9 is on the way.
I think even if the person doesn't have any children under their care, perhaps a judge dealing with families and children would be best to decide who and who should not have forced sterilization. And to be fair, not just one incident should seal their fate.
For example... maybe the following could constitute forced sterilization:
1. Multiple accounts of losing children due to neglect and/or endangerment.
2. Failed to go to and pass court ordered rehab, counseling, NA meetings, and/or parenting classes. And any other class that they see fit. (the kids' dad was required to take an anger management class which he failed to pass.)
3. Repetitive record of frequent arrests.
Various things like that...
Not saying I think someones tubes should be tied with one incident. People ******** up and people can learn, but for cases like my sister... they simply don't need to be having children.

At this point your family's best bet is to sue for custody. They'd more than likely win, especially since he doesn't have a home or job. I would never let him sign his name to any lease because that would just allow him to claim he has a place to stay and take care of his baby. The state doesn't do background checks too often on child welfare cases involving the biological parents, I have no idea why; it's some idea that because you helped bring the child into the world you have some better understanding of him/her than with someone who isn't blood related. That's why adoption can take a very long time.
I've heard of cases where custody was granted back to just horrific parents, even when the child begged to stay with another relative or foster home.
My uncle is a severe drug addict and he tore my family apart, spent all of my family's money, stole everything from my mother and my family in the middle of the night when we were on vacation, and has basically ruined anything that was ever good in my family. The state won't ******** up his bail past 2000 bucks because he doesn't have a job, and the cartel will just bail him out again because he owes them a shitton of money he can't pay off if he's in prison. Thankfully there are no children involved in this situation.
Your parents are probably already trying to figure out what to do. I guess if they can't handle having another child under their roof, they might not have much of a case because blood relatives always come first in the eyes of custody hearings.
I hope everything works out and your family finds a way out of this mess.

Yeah we decided that my dad is going to fly down and go to petition for custody on Tuesday. We kind of found a loophole... basically my sister and her case worker have been lying about her sticking with the terms and requirements of her mother and child reunification program. She was required to go to rehab and counseling and she didn't but she and her case worker are saying she did.
So after speaking to CPS, they're pretty certain this case worker simply isn't doing her job.
She didn't do a background check on anyone deemed to be guardians of the baby, or even look for any proof they could provide for the child. And she didn't ask for any proof or confirmation my sister went to rehab. For everything, she simply took my sisters word. So with recommendation by CPS, my dad is flying down.
A lot of drama has happened since then. She called our house from jail screaming at my mom for taking her kids... 8 years ago. We're fairly certain it was a fit brought on by withdrawals. The dad, Sammy, has threatened Julius with violence if he were to go to the cops or CPS.

I hope everything goes easier for your family and the baby. You're in my thoughts because I know how difficult life can be when dealing with a relative who's an addict.
