I'm white and straight (as far as I know) how come I don't get any special benefits? You guys are always saying 'we wanna be equal!' but that's not actually true, you want special treatment. You wanna be able to complain if someone is mean to you, or doesn't agree with your lifestyle choice or amount of melanin. Being able to get married like everyone else, is equal so awesome (thumbs up.) Suing some for not liking because you're black/gay/whatever isn't. That's not equality, that's taking advantage of your own minority to force the majority to give into you.
You do get special benefits. You get marriage, we don't.
Also, the hate-crime legislation protects everyone. If someone beat the s**t out of you because you're white and straight, the legislation WOULD protect you. Granted, that instance is EXTREMELY rare, people usually don't get beat up for being "normal."
No, I don't wanna "be able to complain" when someone is mean to me or doesn't agree with my lifestyle
choice (it's not a choice). I already HAVE THAT RIGHT, I can complain all I want.
You don't understand the hate-crime legislation. It's got nothing to do with suing people. A hate-crime has NOTHING to do with hate-speech, which is generally perfectly legal unless it causes other disruptions which lead to other crimes (like using hate-speech to start a riot, that would be a crime). But if you call me a "f*****t!" in an open public place and nothing else happens as a consequence, I can't sue you for that. Just like you can't sue me if I say you're a boring whitey who has vanilla sex.
