I'd also like to see some evidence that the CDC is relying on good data, and not just being mistakenly cited as an Infallible Authority when they could very well be flat-out wrong.

For the CDC to be so blatantly wrong about something like this would indicate either a glaring oversight on the behalf of numerous people including researchers and physicians (unlikely) or a massive conspiracy (as some have suggested, although not explicitly; even more unlikely). They're an authority for a reason. Do you know what kind of fiasco that would be, and how quickly it would be exposed? Give me a break.

I'm sorry fatties. Being fat isn't healthy.

If you're happy being fat; good for you. Doesn't make it healthy.

Oh, lol.

First and foremost, losing weight is about staying healthy. You don't want to die young.

When it comes to beauty, I think obese people would feel better about themselves with only scars instead of scars and fat.

I think it's sad, however, that we judge people so easily on their body shape.

Some people live full lives being fat, other may need to lose weight to live longer. I personaly don't pick around weight because there's nothing more attractive than someone who is comfortable with who they are, born that way or not. Fat people can be just a beautiful as skinny people. Coco butter is a good way to get rid of marks, it don't work for everyone, but it's worth a try.

Um....yeah...I'm gonna pull a Vixianna here....Increased RISK does NOT equal CAUSE. Seriously.

Quoting the CDC link you gave:
Quote:

Research has shown that as weight increases to reach the levels referred to as "overweight" and "obesity,"* the risks for the following conditions also increases:

Nowhere in that link does it say "Obesity CAUSES heart disease." That link needs to be renamed to RISKS not CAUSES. It's very misleading to the public and shows a bit of bias.

Anyways, it still doesn't refute my point in saying that the people in the study still got healthier even though they didn't lose the weight. Healthier habits are key. We focus on weight way too much for our own good.

Obesity isn't the cause of any and all health defects. Everyone knows that. However, being obese can cause health defects. If you're at higher risk for certain health conditions because you're overweight, that means that your excess adiposity is causing you health problems, because had you not been overweight, you may not have suffered those health defects.

While healthy habits may be more important than weight loss, that still does not discount the fact that being overweight makes you less healthy.

In other words, when comparing two people; level of activity, genetics, environment, and diet aside, a normal-weighted person is going to be healthier than an overweight person.

Also, as an addendum, healthy habits generally lead to fat loss, so it's a win/win.

That is absolutely the most ridiculous statement you have ever made. You pretty much put your foot in your mouth here, Soleil, and I'm gonna ride that to the frickin MOON. A normal weighted person is going to be healthier than a overweight person based solely on weight? Load of bull, and here's why: YOU CANNOT BASE OVERALL HEALTH ON ONE FACTOR. Health is a culmination of ALL of those factors that you have listed there. You CANNOT ignore those factors when you are determining who is healthy and who is not. THEY ARE ALL INTERCONNECTED. One cannot go without the other. To ignore those factors combined pretty much ignores the well being of the person overall. Whole >>>>> sum of its parts when it comes to the human body. Lrn2biology and lrn2definiton on health.

Again, as it said in the link, the key was healthier living, and not necessarily weight loss. Weight loss was just something that may or may not have happened in addition to said healthier living. Those obese folks lowered their risk without the weight loss on that study. So it goes to show that being fat =/= death toll. It shows that healthy living = healthier life.

And neither does being skinny. Did being skinny make you healthy S.S? Or was it actually exercising more, and hitting all the areas of the food pyramid? I mean honestly here, was it you practicing the habits need to support your body in nutrients and muscle development, or was it OMG!you have 50 less pounds so now so now everything is fixed. You tell me.

As long as you have no rolls, you're not fat by my standard. But once you get them...*shudders*

Listen, the only reason that I wanna lose weight is health. It certainly ain't looks, trust me, you don't want to see me in a bikini.

But if you feel healthy while being fat (but gods, not so fat that you can't clean yourself properly), no skin off my nose.

Clean the fat out of your eyes. It's impeding your ability to understand what I'm saying. Either that or you're just obstinately refusing to accept something that's a proven fact because it makes you feel insecure about being fat. This isn't your personal pity party. This is health. Excess adiposity is not good for you. Period. Go ahead, point to your one study that says fat people got healthier anyway even though they didn't lose weight. NO s**t. Living healthier is going to make you healthier, but living healthier and losing weight is going to make you even healthier, because excess body fat is not. ********. good. for. you.

I should also point out that mortality and morbidity are two different things, and a lot of the health consequences of excess adiposity deal with morbidity, not just mortality.

Excess adiposity is not a non-factor in health no matter how you attempt to slice it, so stop trying to spread your pro-fat, pandering bullshit just because you can't figure out how to lose weight so you somehow have to make being fat a good thing to boost your own pitiful self-esteem.

Lies and myths that people want to believe don't get exposed all that easily.

And seriously. The CDC has lied before. (Don't trust my source, follow up on his.)

It does reduce your mortality rate, though:
http://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140673606692519/abstract
(hint: this means "fatties" die less often than "skinny ********." Or even "healthy" weighted people.)

Shall I troll around for other studies with similar results? I can if you'd like.
