And seeing as how there is solid proof of evolution, but absolutely no proof of any kind of god, I'd say this battle is over.

Im not catholic, and the pope is as human as any one of us. He is capable of sinning, after all, all men have fallen short of the glory of god. So yes, I can disagree with the pope and be right some times. Theistic evolution is interesting, but not biblical. Either the bible is or isnt correct, and quite frankly, it is a historical document proven time after time to be proven correct by historical findings.

Why? What does evolution have to do with a god? Last time I checked, it doesn't mention the existence or nonexistence of a god, just a model explaining the diversity of life that fits all the evidence and contradicts none.

Why is a god required for morality. I have a very well adjusted moral compass, and I am an atheist. I don't do things because of a fear of a god, but because it is beneficial. It is beneficial to society, it is beneficial to my family, it is beneficial to my friends. We are social creatures, and morals are what we use to help us get along.

How does an explanation for the diversity of life, which is supported by all the evidence and contradicted by none do that? Last I checked, it was belief in deities that tends to take away peace. Like almost a decade back now when some religious extremists flews some planes into some buildings in the New York and Washington DC area?
