Perhaps if virginia wasn't a bunch of ******** up redneck dickheads they might not have as much bullying.

While you make a valid point this sentence really made me lose all respect for you and your post.

This statement made me lose respect for your ability to see the truth because you are an oversensitive t**t. On top of that your approval is not something I regard while making my posts, nor do I desire your respect so next time you can keep it to yourself and remember you are not important enough to mean anything to me despite your overinflated ego.

Ah...discrimination under the guise of progressiveness, how wonderful.

Haven't heard much of that before, it's a first for me.

"Let's ban stuff that makes us uncomfortable!"

"Yea, but how are we going to do it without looking like douchebags!"

Oh Americans, how unimpressed I am of you.

I'm surprised your country has lasted this long with all the stupidity living within it.

Good god, there's being progressive and then there's being modern. They aren't even modern, they actually have to debate about bringing themselves up to speed with the rest of the world.

Pathetic.

America isn't all idiots. I'm pretty sure the smart people see what goes on and do nothing about it because of the masses of stupid people you would have to deal with to fix it.

So the ones who aren't idiots are either lazy or cowards. Gotcha.

Cowards? No. Lazy? Maybe.

I've never understood the appeal of crossdressing other than for comedic purposes. I certainly don't think they should ban it. But I really don't get it.
From my understanding, transvestites (the non-paraphilic kind, aka the ones who don't jerk off in women's clothing) do it because they feel more comfortable in the opposite gender's clothing, while transgenders do it because as they feel they are actually the opposite gender, it makes more sense to them to wear the clothing of the gender they associate with.

In general, people will not take you seriously if you continue to use language like that which is to your own detriment. Also stereotyping makes you look dumb.

Ever see a guy wearing a shirt like that?

I've never seen a girl wearing a shirt like that.
I thought what they'd banned was dresses anyway.
Quote:

There's also make-up, which has nothing to do with clothing at all. The vast majority of girls at a JR. High to Highschool level wear make-up to school on a daily basis. Nothing to do with clothes, but still 'cross-dressing.'

I don't think they banned boys wearing makeup.

No it is clothing not in keeping with ones gender. Now had they banned dresses all around the idea would not be discriminatory as girls could not wear them either. No one wants to keep girls from wearing dresses in any way. The proposal is supposedly to keep boys from wearing them because they might irritate a bully and cause them to get beaten up. Now, under threats of an ACLU lawsuit which is already being prepared they did try to claim it was actually for the reason that it causes a disruption to the students learning. This way they again try and pretend they are doing a favor by discriminating. years ago it was disruptive for those poor white students to have to learn with black kids. The black students presence was causing insults, bullying, and violence to interrupt the schools. Of course intelligent people realize that the people who are making comments, assaulting others, and making the problems are the ones who need to be dealt with. Why does it make sense to ignorant boobs like yourself to respect the feelings of violent disruptive students over the feelings of the trans children who are just trying to be themselves and the real problem lies in the ignor5ant twits who cannot deal with seeing a guy in a dress.

Stop making excuses for really stupid prejudice and trying to claim that the prejudice is not that bad because you are not effected by it.

Boys wearing make up would probably fit under clothing not keeping with their gender, and as supposedly disruptive.

I hate the "blame the victim" mindset, the idea that if someone is getting picked on, they should be the one to change. When I was younger, I got picked on a lot because I liked to read. Can you imagine if the school staff told me to stop reading so I wouldn't get picked on so much? cat_rolleyes It's just something that really, really pisses me off. Here's a radical new idea I just thought up: how about, instead of asking the victims to change themselves, we PUNISH BULLIES? Because here's a little fun fact; kids will ALWAYS think of some shitty excuse to pick on another kid. I got picked on a lot for traits that other, more popular kids, also had. I had acne and some kids picked on me for it, well guess what, a lot of their friends had acne as well. I was picked on for being a "nerd", even though those girls picking on me were in the same advanced classes I was in. Want to get rid of bullying? Do something about the bullies themselves, not the victims. Tell the victims to conform, the bullies learn nothing, and one can say that the bullies win because it shows they got to the victim with their relentless teasing and abuse.

Before I go on, you seem to be on the right track. However, I would like to point out that punishing the bully will normally not stop the bully. I am not saying not to do it, and despite the fact it will not really deter a natural bully punishment will deter lesser bullies. The fact is you can try but you are not going to stop the real bullies, and to some extent youth is oversensitive to negative opinions of them also so they will see bullying where there may be none.

Bullying needs to be confronted in a much different way. I think the programs where older people let kids know this sort of behavior really does get much less when you get out of school. Letting kids know there is a light at the end of the tunnel and things get better is a strong thing. Also teaching kids to learn to look to themselves for their self worth rather than other people helps to really destroy things like the effects of bullying and the negative self perception issues of those years in general.

The one thing that really turned things around for me in high school was finding something I did well in and enjoyed a lot. Kids who have not found this should be helped to experience new and different things. Once you find a place where you enjoy being that is here you are going to go and it is also probably where you are going to find friends and allies. When I found that thing I went from being a person who was generally a good target to understanding the insults were hollow and having a few friends around to talk to which generally keeps the bullies away. Also, when you have nothing that you enjoy to think about and you are getting bullied you don't have anything else to focus on beside being bullied.

At least with punishment, it would establish that such behavior is not okay. If one were to get a job and they constantly harassed their coworkers with taunts and shoves and spreading rumors, they'd probably lose their job and may even get into legal trouble. Why is it suddenly less of a problem when it happens in a school environment? I do agree that telling victims that things get better is good, but I still think there should be bigger penalties for bullying. The problem with bullying is that teachers either can't or won't do anything. The only time they start to care is when a kid kills himself. Bullying won't stop just because bullies get punished, but it will establish that it's not okay and justice gets served.

I agree that punishment is necessary as I said. You have to send the message that it is wrong, and punishment does show that the victim is not the one with the problem. But punishment for the most part is not going to do much aside from really piss the bully off and make them be more covert and be harder on the victim. Though it is wrong for the bully to do what they do, there is a victim behavior that draws it out of them. If bullying was the only result of this victim behavior I would say hammer the bully and do your best to support the victim. However, the reality is that most often the victims of bullies have behavioral and attitude problems that when corrected will not only stop most of the bullying but also would make them better people, and give them more respect for themselves. If you need a deeper explanation i can do it.

Unfortunately, the only thing that can really prevent it is education and the Republicans will freak the ******** out if anything but cisgenderism and heterosexuality are taught in schools.

That is part of the problem. There comes that time when you just have to suck it up and deal with it. Really, do we need to coddle them because they are afraid of the man in a dress? If your kid freaked out because they saw a man in a dress what would you do? You would tell them to quit being a ******** p***y and get on with life.
