Two things. First, you're an airsoft player, not a soldier or a Professionally Instructed Gunman. You are not a marksman, you are not a sharpshooter, you are a kid with a toy gun.

Second, marksman isn't that good. It's 19-29 out of 40. That's bare minimum to qualify on BRMs.

Three things, I lied: Trust me, I know weight isn't as big a deal as some make it out to be. But it's still a big deal where groups like FORECON and the Airborne are concerned, because your rucksack would weigh more than half what you do. That's why I'm working on gaining weight, so I can get 68w1 instead of 68w10, the difference being Ranger school.

Yeah, that sounds about right. They change the system ALL the time, but not telling you what company you're going to seems to be a time honored tradition. They probably won't tell you till you're out of the 43rd and on the buses, but since you're going as a medic, it's going to be one of the 2-10, 3-10, or 1-48 companies.

OK, good info. All this waiting sucks balls, though. I DEP'd in back in July, and it's all just been waiting to leave and PT every 2 weeks. Have to pass the 1:1:1 next weekend, but that's not a worry. I can do the minimums and then some, despite being absolute minimum weight and way out of shape from the desk job I had this past year.

What's the difference between the different companies? And are there as many fights as I've been hearing there are at BCT?

But that's not necessarily a bad thing- after all, not everyone finds being a soldier to be a good experience, so my advice? Let it go for now. Enjoy being a kid and, if you want to join the Marines later, go right ahead, but you can worry about the existentialist quandries of military service when you're face down in the mud. Because none of the crap you thought before that moment is going to matter, I can promise you that.

I used to live on Fort Hood, my house was just down the street from where the shootings happened. I still have many friends who live there. They are saying that it was a Major who was the shooter, and they think there might be two other shooters out there. The entire post is on lock down, families are asked to lock thier doors and windows, and to turn off thier heating and cooling units. It's illegal to impersonate a soldier. And probably worse to pretend you're a captain. For your father's sake, if you have ANY insignia on those cammies you got, rip em off.
