Okay, I'm a soldier living on the base of fort hood, the shooting happened just across the street from me. it happened at the local SRP site, the Major in question was getting ready to deploy. There was three shooters, they only released the identity of one, the major, and he has been killed, unknown about the other two but they are in some sort of custody. There was 13 dead and 31 wounded. No names were released as of yet of who was injured or killed. They are still not sure about what his motives are.

Now, that is what I know so far of what has happened. But my feelings on the whole situation? I was just locked down in a building for seven hours with 30+ people, we were told not to step outside and to inform our family members that we are okay. They weren't even releasing any info to us during our lock down, all we could gather was what was showing up on online news, which we weren't even sure if it was correct or not. I spent seven hours talking to scared and teary family members and friends who were scared for my safety, and I had to frequently reassure them that I was okay and safe.

What bothers me most about this is that I just got back from a year long deployment in Iraq, and not once did I ever receive so much contact from family and friends over my safety and well being till now. Neither have I ever gone through so much security check points with armed military members checking and inspecting every car in such a short distance from my office to my barrack's, not even in Iraq did I see this. It's shocking to see that a military base in garrison was able to have this happen to it, people are coming back from fighting in a war, they shouldn't have to deal with just as much danger on American soil on a military base. I'm not sure as to how this was handled, but it seems that the armed forces could have done a lot more to prevent this from happening. As soon as 9/1 happened security was tightened, but that happened a while ago, security is now loosened on military bases, and I can tell you on Fort Hood between the hours of 1000 a.m. to 1400 p.m. anybody can get on base. Not only that, but any soldier on fort hood can go to a local gun shop can get any kind of weapon they want in less than twenty minutes, doesn't matter if they just got back from deployment or not. It just seems that so much could have been prevented, this shouldn't have happened.....

Actually, I just saw on BBC World News America, that the major is actually okay, and in stable condition, and in custody.

Umm one of the top guys there actually came out and said that the guy was alive and doing well. Seems you don't know anymore than we do seeing as how your commanders get their own information ******** up.

Yeah, obviously, because the shooting only happened at the SRP that happens to be on Battalion st. on Fort Hood, which also happens to be close to Clear Creek Rd, which is the street the main post PX is at, which is where they captured one shooter, which means he had travel through the baseball field that is on the right hand side of the SRP site. I obviously don't live in Fort Hood, how else would I know all of this? rolleyes

I really do not care about the bigger person. These are my Brother and Sister....people who I would put my life in there hands and they would do that same for me as well. They where unarmed and not guilty of anything. They should have not put out that he was alive...and tortured him to get all the info they needed then killed him. kept it covered up...

Why would they need to torture him? Right now this is not a terrorist attack, this was not a plot against anybody, as far as what is concerned this is a massacre until deemed otherwise.

Actually, google maps doesn't have the correct information. And nice try, but no family is here, I'm from California, I don't even want to be on Fort Hood, why would I want to be here? And why would you accuse me of not living here for no reason?
