Little Starpuff
I often wonder why it's okay to have a woman fully naked in a film (not porn... ahem) but not a guy showing off his wang. Do movies attract more audience when a woman is naked but not a man? I mean, like we ever see a n** slip in the trailers. Though, seeing celebrities with n** slips in the media is supposedly amusing.
More so, do the movies attract just the male audience? Like women don't ever want to see a p***s. Some women even feel a little uncomfortable about seeing breasts, like some men do seeing other penises. Or let's look at it differently.
Take the adult film. Women AND men, prefer the guy to have a large p***s. Do men watching porn rather see the dude have a tiny p***s? It's a disappointment, right? I guess its a psychological thing to the guy who imagines himself in that position.
So when people watch porn, it's to be entertained in a sexual manner alone or with a partner. But in general, doesn't want to be exposed in any other way other than comic relief. That makes a s**t load of sense...
In any case, let the penises galore. It shouldn't be use as a comedic form. It's a natural, beautiful thing. Most times.
The inclusion of naked women in films but not naked men sort of has to do with a "male gaze" type of thing. Studios like to gear their movies mostly toward men because of the belief that women will watch movies for men but men won't watch movies for men. (there are also some studios that believe women don't watch as much TV and movies, but studies and surveys prove that that isn't true) It really goes back to what the OP is talking about here, that male genitalia is taboo with both men AND women. Men grow up being told that masculinity is super important, so they feel the need to constantly reestablish their heterosexuality. And that means having to show how DISGUSTED they are with seeing other men naked.
cat_rolleyes With women, however, we are taught female sexuality is a bad thing, so they're not supposed to find naked dudes attractive. We can talk about the abs but that's about it.

I don't watch porn so I can't really comment on that. I've always been told that in porn, they use camera angles and sex positions that show off the woman but hide the man. But I don't really know, I don't watch porn.
