Differing opinions on transsexualism do not indicate confusion. The only thing she is confused about is that she thinks I'm non-binary. Other than that both of our views are entirely valid and worth arguing over. That's my opinion.

As for the topic at hand: Some people know at very young ages. It's not a universal thing, for example, a lot of people only have inklings and really start to realize what's happening when they hit puberty.

Kim was very fortunate to have accepting, supportive parents, as well as trained professional who was willing to be understanding and actually take the situation seriously.

All too often people brush it off as "kids can't know what they want", and men and women are forced to endure traumatizing, painful events until they are old enough (according to the government or whatever) to make the decision on their own.

I'm going back to school for human services in the fall. My goal is to work with LGBT youths, especially as it relates to transgender issues, so kids struggling with this sort of thing don't have to feel like they're alone.

Kim is NOT a standard case, but she is a nice spot of hope for people wishing they could do the same thing.
