killing under conditions in general can be justified, as long as it is not in the name of the killing...
my opinion is fighting and killing can be justified further than just protection of physical but can be carried over to idealistic protection (such as morality, or other Christian priorities) thus fighting can be brought about in enemy territory, as an attack in regards to defending an ideal... the way i see it:
you must be in mindset of readiness to die rather than kill- i also believe that both sides can be in the right.
also all Christian sects are derived from roman catholics which was the early church mended with Greco-Roman idealism and philosophy... the romans held honor and duty in very high regards, thus it is that fighting was quickly moralized in a community in which it was completely necessary.
also fighting ( i talk of war very generally as to push my ideal of acceptance of combat in all areas) is inevitable if you want world morality rather than world piece.
BUT as a Christian you must always hold war ethics and honor very strongly, and choose your battles very carefully, you must always remember (as Saint Peter forgot) that the message and significance to the cause is more important than the general defense of thing, by this i mean if you are to be a marauder have it have some message rather than to die in vain

well in my opinion god sees it as defense,surely he cannot expect for a human to turn the cheek if his family is being threatened.besides god should forgive if it's justifiable.

How is it defence to invade another country and murder the inhabitants? I'm thinking mainly of the U.S here.

Damn them for being the only aggressive country in the world! Ever. I can't stand that they're the only people who kill other people! Ever.

Unless I'm mistaken, the Crusades were fought because Christians hated Muslims and wanted to either erradicate them or convert them.

However, I agree that war is an exception, as long as it is a just war or you have no control over the situation. (Draftees, for example, who were forced to go to war. You kill to stay alive, you kill because it's you're job. I'm all for the draft whenever it was used, but I don't think that the people who were drafted should be judged for doing their job.)

Funny, isn't that why they call belief in a higher power "faith"? That's the point. If God manifested himself every day and held press conferences, or posted on your Facebook Wall, then everyone would believe, right? Which takes away the point of faith.

You people are all forgetting that Zero's belief in nothing is a belief system itself >>!!
Also, the whole point of ALL religions is that it's something you can't see, touch, or feel, which makes it all a matter of faith, but then if you say that, you also have to consider the fact that many people claim that they can "hear" their god "speaking" to them in some shape, way, or form. Are we then to believe that that is indeed the work of a god, or should we really take a look at that person's mental condition?
