From the Crusades to the present Christians have been killing for the "right" causes. But how can Christians justify war? Isn't one of the Ten Commandments "Thou shalt not kill"?

I'm asking this to Christains who are for wars. Does killing people in battle not count?
Actually it's "Thou shalt not murder".

“Thou shalt not kill” ( Exodus 20:13).
No you lose. You're both bad Christians for not knowing.

Look up the....What was the original language they used for the writing of the oral traditions? Greek or Aramaic or something. Maybe Hebrew for the OT. There's a suffix that makes it mean "Kill wrongly," or murder.

"A free people ought not only to be armed and disciplined, but they should have sufficient arms and ammunition to maintain a status of independence from any who might attempt to abuse them, which would include their own government."

Why on earth would you start with the Crusades?

You could have at least picked a campaign that was set about for reasons that were clearly not just.

In my opinion the Crusades were for greedy reasons.

hmmm to be honest, they might see it as defending rather than killing.

what does God see it as?

well in my opinion god sees it as defense, surely he cannot expect for a human to turn the cheek if his family is being threatened.besides god should forgive if it's justifiable.

but then again I'm not a christian so I really have no say in the manner.

How is it defence to invade another country and murder the inhabitants? I'm thinking mainly of the U.S here.

Ratreoz: God, why do people not worship Me?
God: People are stupid. You know that.
Ratreoz: Yes. I just don't see it as a valid excuse.

My Mom says: Because 'thou shalt not kill' should have actually been translated as 'thou shalt not murder' and when you're doing you're job as a solider, that's not considered murder.
My Mom is a pretty good source, she was a devout christian for the majority of her life.

but is she God?

well I was being general when I spoke, but even then alot of soldiers still see it
as retaliation rather than invasion,to ensure a victory so things like 9/11 might never
happen again,or other reasons similar to that...but we all really know what's going on
even though we might not want to admit it.

Yes.

No, but she's right. I can find sources if you need them.

No matter what they're telling me.
I won't feel dirty and buy into their misery.
I won't be shamed 'cause I believe that love is free.
It fuels the heart and sex is not my enemy."

Sex is Not the Enemy - Garbage

Regardless of if it's murder or killing, don't most Christians think it's wrong to play God? I'd hope so. And isn't killing someone, even for good causes, playing God?

I'm going to take it, without telling us the version or even the book, that you are simply looking for trouble.

Christians in the military doesn't bother me. What bothers me is when the same people who shout "Go, go, go!" "Fire!" and "Fall back!" are the same ones who by nightfall say "Let's pray."

No. God passes the final judgment however the concept of punishment and detainment is not only in the Talmud, it's one of the fundamentals of their lifestyle; it is strict about what is to be done.

alot of variables take upon that,
such as science,medicine,government.

all of these can also be considered as "playing god" but
only we as a society can determine what is passable or not.
