Okay:

1. Sexuality is not a choice. It is not a preference.

2. Racial Inclination is a choice. It is a preference.

1) Sexuality is not a choice, however, who ones chooses to have sex with is.

2) Racial preference is not a choice, however, who one chooses to have sex with is.

See what I just did?

Oh man are you going to go buy conservative suits or just go with what you have and show off your individuality? smile

I don't know if it's just me but I have THE WORLD'S BEST sex-dar. No crossdresser has gotten me yet. And I do indeed dress in women's clothing out in public from time to time and each time it is FLAWLESS. whee I don't look like a man in a dress, I look like A GIRL.
And I will wear my usual clothing. I've my red slacks and blazer picked out with white shirt and red patterned tie. rofl My parents didn't raise no conformist! My dad still rocks the leisure suits AND looks good in them! ^_^

I love it when boys dress as girls and looks prettier, it's mad funny.
Whoot you have awesome parents. Mines care too much about what people think, so when i dress like i want they always have some s**t like "what will people think?" to say

No. The first example is broken, sexuality is not a choice, in regards to asking about sexuality that's the end of it. What goes into choosing a partner is far more intricate but also off-topic and a red herring.

Racial preference is a choice, if it were not those who tended towards race X when they were young and finally ended tending towards Y when they got older shouldn't exist. Yet a lot of these people do, especially when it comes to fetish-like behavior.

So, refutation by example.

Preferences aren't chosen so you're correct. I don't choose to not like vegetables. I don't choose to like watermelons and I don't choose if I prefer one race in terms of dating over another. Does that make me racist? Nope. So I agree with your post.

You're misinterpreting the context of the word "choose" in that sentence. You choose something if you prefer it but you don't necessarily choose what you prefer. Do you choose whether or not you like vegetables? No. Do you choose whether or not if you eat vegetables? Yes. Can you change your preference of vegetables over time after exposure to them? Yes (but it really depends on the person). Does that necessarily mean you have to? No.

Okay a preference is a comparison choice between two like subjects. You naturally disliking veggies but eating them anyway is not equivalent to you liking apples over oranges.

Okay, perhaps that was a bad analogy. Then your choice of apples or oranges then. I don't choose whether I prefer apples over oranges since my preference could be purely based on what I like better. That doesn't mean I hold everyone to the standard of "you should like apples over oranges". It's simply a preference of mine.

A natural inclination is not a choice, you're right, however natural inclinations are preferences because they can change. For instance a more complex web would be better, such as there are four fruits, apples, oranges, grapes, and watermelon. You prefer all three over watermelon, so you never like watermelon, but from time to time when you get hungry you want grapes more than apples, and from time to time orange slices more than grapes, etc.

Further to show that racial preference is indeed more fluid if we take note of the world's most beautiful women not all are of a particular racial quality; for instance many who date white girls will admit that Halle Berry is sexually attractive.

Maaaaaan, my family never gave a s**t about that. ^_^ We're Rican, we MAKE the beat of the drum and DANCE to it! I'm going to get my hair dyed green and gold later this month. whee
My aunt's doing it for free and it's the closest to "gay" I'm coming aside from the whole wandering around in dresses thing. My dad occasionally whips out the unisex outfit too, earrings and all. rofl
It's more of an oblivious thing than anything.
"Hey, my son. Why's that guy lookin at me like that?"
"I dunno"
"Is it the earrings?"
"....."(looks)"...LOL"
Only "gay" thing about me would by my naturally "cute", little-boy-girl voice. It's not the "gay accent' voice, it's a bit of Costa Rican accent+Harlem accent+Why the hell haven't you hit puberty yet voice. And I'm an adult. sweatdrop

No, we can influence our preferences, even our sexuality, but we cannot decide our preferences---any of them. That means that we have a say buit we don't have the final say.

Notice the difference here. Preference = unconscious behavior. Choice = conscious behavior.

Sexual/racial preference = unconscious behavior. (adjective) Partner = choice.

Your example refutes nothing. I may not have an allergic reaction to nuts when I am young, but I might grow to have a severe reaction to them. That totally means I chose it.

I just know this example is going to go over your head so I'll feed you the point. The scenario doesn't matter. You need to show that preference is not biological, and the fact that preferences change does not do that.Plenty of things change, but that doesn't mean that biology does not influence it.

Now, you missed my initial point. I am saying that the preference itself does not matter. We are discussing what we do with those preferences. I may not like the taste of peas but that doesn't stop me from eating them.

See what I just did?

Yes, you certainly may change in your racial preference as you're more exposed. But it could possibly be that you still prefer a person of a certain "race" even after exposure to them. Does that mean that you're racist? No. It just means that you prefer one over another. Of course, it's racist if you hold everyone to your standard that "you should/have to like x because _____".

You still don't "choose" your preference, though.

Just to take the off topic thread
I thought discussing the importance or lack thereof of race was on topic? Considering that that's the topic of the thread?

But you are discussing homosexuality and not race and trying to justify prejudice and bigotry using homosexuals as an excuse. You can be as racist as you like, but claiming you are allowed because gay people exist is really sad.
I was discussing homosexuality in relation to racial preference as it applies to sexuality.

That is on topic.

We had a drag show tonight. It was interesting.

I'm...not much for drag shows. Hypocritical sounding as it is it's true.... when I go in drag I don't want to look like a boy in a dress, my goal is to look like a GIRL...then again...I'm so cursedly feminine looking IRL even when I TRY to look masculine even the lesbians flock to me. crying
Gah. That's it. I'm taking 'roids.

Then again, callimg me a hypocrite on this matter
would be like calling the Black person who shuns BET
a hypocrite too, no? whee
