Although it's jacked up. People it's HOLLYWOOD! Don't be surprised. There was racism from the start and it's America! Where all the racism,sexism,homophobia,intolerant,conspriracy, blah,blah happens. Trust me this movie was about $$$, if that wasn't the case then maybe the directors would have paid ATTENTION to the series and not just throw random people into the movie and butcher the storyline, but since money is more important than art. They just threw whatever and called it a movie.

Examples:Twilight,My Bloody Valentine,The Happening, etc.

So don't be surprised if any novel,video game,tv show,history you like or love was "revisioned" to a hot mess.

As it stands, the five actors reportedly in contention to play Kaneda are Michael Fassbender​, Garrett Hedlund​, Joaquin Phoenix​, Chris Pine​, and Justin Timberlake​. The trio of men in the running to star as Tetsuo are Andrew Garfield​, James McAvoy​, and Robert Pattinson​.

So when I first read this thread and knew this was an issue I leaned on the side of the directors/producers/whomever, thinking they had the right to pick whoever they thought portrayed the role best.

Having seen the movie, I can say with absolute certainty that wasn't the case. They were terrible!

Definitely. The chosen actors left enormous room for improvement. I would have appreciated the consistency more as well.

I'd recommend it to anyone willing to ruin their mood for a day or two.

Yeah with most things the Japanese are crazier when it comes to creepy fandoms. That's why DBZ GT was made no so much for the money but the fandom wanted more and more in Japan..
