It's not their cosmology that is the problem, it's what those in charge do. When you get down to it, virgins having babies that grow up to be magic zombies (Christianity), and elephant head transplants (Hinduism) sound just as silly as body thetans. But the neither Christianity nor Hinduism is a giant pyramid scheme built on taking advantage of people and their money and utterly destroying anyone who strays from the path. If you are a Roman Catholic who decides to be Lutheran, you won't be hunted down by the Pope and have ever single shred of your life, from your family to your job to your health, taken from you. If you are a Scientologist who has qualms about Scientology, or even a non-scientologist, you will be destroyed (Like Quentin Hubbard or Paulette Cooper)

I fully agree that their cosmology is not the problem. Their beliefs aren't any more absurd than Christianity, Judaism or Buddhism.

The problem is, they make you PAY for the enlightenment of the story of Xenu.

Whereas a Christian will tell you up front what you're getting into.

EDIT: wiki had claims that Egypt had the first mental hospitals, but no citation to follow. I can't find any earlier dates and countries than 8th Centry, in the Middle East.

The original claim was that the Germans "invented psychiatry". You might be correct on they type of therapy, but it would still be wrong to say that the Germans invented treating mental illness.

Please answer me with logic and courtesy with out greating more logical fallacies than the scientologists. You are creating a strawman by describing Christianity thus. Shame on you.
