Hey, Akala. I want to compare the Kukri to the Katana, and figure you're the best source. While I still do not believe it's "easy" to dismember someone with a katana, I do believe it it "relatively easy" when you compare them to most other weapons.
Anyway, a kukri is a large knife/sword/axe. It's somewhat in a category of its own. The larger, more effective (for people who can handle the weight) kukri weigh around 4-5lbs, have 5/8" thick blades, and, despite being a one-handed weapon, can cut small trees in one swing in the hands of someone who knows what they're doing.
This is an example of a kukri- think of it as a short sword weighted like an axe and angled so that chopping is easier to preform.
So far, my opinion is that katana are better weapons. You can strike much faster, you have two hands to work with the weight, and they are
really sharp. However, I believe the kukri to be a superior tool- chopping wood with it, prying with it, using it as en entrenching tool, hacking down doors with it, etc. It can take a hell of a lot of abuse, and each traditional kukri (usually the best) comes with a sharpening knife and a small knife for finer tasks.
