Welcome to Gaia! ::

It has been proven that all males begin as females. Perhaphs some of us retain the ability to produce minute amounts of estrogen,(the mother will cause this through a temporary imbalance of her biochemical signals) causing them to become effeminate, and affect their nature. If a man, is uncomfortable with his appearence as too... manly, he could have estrogen pumped into his body, and this will directly affect his appearence. Perhaphs that some males, with certain mothers, under certain conditions, will produce a minute amount of estrogen, and will directly/indirectly affect our psychological behavior. Some males, will have a slightly larger amount of estrogen produced, thus causing them to want a feminine body as well. But, this artificaily produced/preserved chemical, that was introduced into the body foreignly, will cause the chemical testosterone to become more active, canceling out some of the estrogen. This might be why there are some transvestites. Not all of these males can afford this, so they will on occasion, wear feminine clothing. This will cause a placebo effect on the brain, causing it to release more estrogen.

I have yet to come up with a theory on female homosexuality though. I beleive it to be something along the lines of an unnatural affection to humper cars.

The female homosexuality can be explained In conclusion, this is not to be taken seriously, but I wanted you to read the whole thing, so I made this paragraph misleading. If you want to flame me, go ahead, but I will not be here.

that's a nice theroy but i want to clear something up for you. ALL males produce a minute amount of estrogen and ALL females produe testosterone.

Yeah, otherwise men would be sterile and women would have no sex drive. razz
well i'm not sure if that the reason or not jack but it's a good reason lol smile *looks at his sig and hides her puppy plushies*
Hormonal theories have been tested, with no definative results. ALL males produce estrogen, just as women produce testosterone. The difference is a matter of ratio, women all produce a fairly similiar amount of testosterone, and men have a wide range for what's considered normal testosterone levels, but even the minimum is many times the usual max for women. Homosexual men have varying hormone levels, just like straight men (I think there may be some bias toward HIGHER levels, if anything, I'm not too sure on this one). And remember, hormone levels change a lot throughout a persons life, but sexuality doesn't (it might be confused, unknown for some time, or represeed, but it doesn't change for most people). Women's estrogen levels drop significantly after menopause, but they don't suddenly become bull dykes. Testosterone is a common steriod, and I don't know of anyone switching sexuality just because they started using steroids, legally or otherwise. Changes in hormone levels later in life don't seem to make a difference.

If hormones matter at all, it's at some very early formative stage. If the important time is while the child's still in the womb, then it'll be more influenced by their mother's hormones than anything.
