And contrary to what people here apparently think, pregnancy isn't a walk in the park. It's a very unpleasant, invasive experience if you don't want it. You can't hide it. People will comment on it and question it. If you're still in school, people may make fun of you. People will talk about you behind your back.
If you're in college, it will interfere with your education. It may make you sick and give you unwanted health problems. You will have to pay medical bills. All for what? For a child you don't want?

Not everyone feels guilt. Not everyone feels the moral obligation to incubate a child that you never intended to have to begin with.

Until someone points out that the little clump of cells is an individual and not "your body." Which is why people still debate it so fiercely--not because they want to control women and force them to have all sorts of babies they don't want, but because they think the unborn are individual beings that deserve some sort of protection.
nicely put.

I agree with both you and the statement. Anti-abortionists are not against women's rights, they are advocates of life.
Pro-choice isn't anti life. If nothing else, it's pro life. And pro choice (no duh, hence the name.) It's a woman's right to choose to whatever happens inside her body. A baby may be an individual, but he/she can't magically occur without the woman (barring cloning, test tube babies).

And pro-choice is also pro life because it supports the right for a woman to have a life unhindered by a baby that she didn't want/can't support. Is the woman's life less important than the baby's?

The baby can't live without the woman. Therefore it is a part of her. If she chooses to exterminate it, then it's like any other part of her body and should be treated as such.

Now I just wish these people could understand that. xP It's like bashing your head against a brick wall.

Yes, currently, in many places, abortion is legal. I didn't think this thread was a discussion of legality, but of personal opinion. Was I wrong?

My opinion is this: I am an advocate of life. If a woman is pregnant, I consider both her and the child to be two separate lives interconnected until birth and would see both preserved.

Pregnancy is not the funnest thing in the world, but neither is it generally lethal to either party. It is an unfortunate situation if a woman chose to take part in activity that could result in pregnancy but does not actually desire to be pregnant, or would be upset if she did become pregnant. But that is a choice she made, knowing the consequences, and I believe that regardless of what her wishes are, she made a choice knowing the potential results, and that the time for decision making is over when they become pregnant.

I believe that a fetus is a living individual that has the right to life, irrespective of the hardship its existence may put on the woman. I agree with medically necessary abortion and nothing else.

That is my personal stance. I don't make the laws, I just follow them. Right now, abortion is legal in much of America, and I respect that law even if I don't agree with it.

This is very childish thinking and is borderline cruel.
Why should childfree people be punished like this? Why should they be denied one of the best human experiences? All because they don't want to be saddled down with a kid?
No. That just isn't right.

well, lets face face it. nothing good can come without the bad. if it's really that's important, use control. hell, it's a ton of fun to shoot up with heroin everyday, but it screws you over in the end, too.

Abortion is control. Control over having an unwanted pregnancy.
