A different look on abstinance

Usually the more "science based, arrogant, liberal, non religious" to root for sex education and against abstinence uh education (though not against abstinence itself). Usually the more "religious, more emotionally based, religious" people are for abstinence (though not necessarily against safe sex education, I am told).


Now think for a minute. why is that? People are not shy in proclaiming we have an "aids epedemic" in America (http://www.avert.org/aids-hiv-epidemic.html, http://www.nytimes.com/2009/11/03/health/03global.html, http://www.ajc.com/opinion/charting-the-hiv-aids-121319.html), and i defy anyone to say that there is not a large number of illegitamate children in America, as evidenced by the fact that a third of the people i know are bastards, myself included.

What is an easy way to lower these numbers? practice abstinence till marriage/finding of life partner(s). The only REASONABLE way someone could get pregnant then would be if they were raped. and obviously limiting the amount of promiscuous activity in the world would decrease the spread of std's.

This would be accomplished if practicing abstinence until marriage became a powerful social norm. Such as our social norm/taboo of not having sex with children. It is still done by some people, but they are viewed as perverts, and hated.

Now what I am wondering is why the usually emotionally involved groups are FOR abstinence when it's such an emotional thing to have sex, and the usually logically involved group likes sex so much taht they want it even though 1. a condom isn't 100% 2. your partner's word that are bug free isn't 100%

:c cause i sure as hell know they don't ask for doctors forms saying their partner's are clean before bumping nasties.

and the pleasure of sex can be achieved by ones self.

What does being married have to do with anything? Just because you married your baby daddy doesn't make you a better parent. It certainly helps if both parents are working and contributing financially to the child's well fair, but that's independent of marriage since divorced couples can do the same thing.

Also, your use of the out-dated term of "b*****d" is disheartening. This isn't the 15th century, your parents not having been married when you were conceived isn't really a big deal socially anymore. I never like the term "illegitimate children" anyways.

Sorry, it's been a while since I've heard that reference.
Anyhoo, I taught all my kids to abstain from sex by letting them know that condom's are not 100% safe nor are they even 90% safe. I'm sure they dealt with their desires in the usual manner...longer showers, and three did fine. My oldest is the only one who went against abstinence and tried everything he could get his hands on. He has three kids, two while married for almost two years, who are not with him now, and one that is illegitimate. He's had a few nasty little freebies from some of the girls...even when he used a condom (that whole not 90% effective thing), but so far he's contracted nothing that hangs around for the rest of his life.
Thankfully now he's been with the same one for five years and got married two years ago.
I'm for abstinence as I think teaching kids that they can't control their own body is the wrong way to go. It's like reducing them to mindless animals and saying since you have these urges that can't be controlled here, take this so you can relieve yourself with someone else. It's the same with way with this whole move to "embrace" ones emotions. The out of control youth on every news channel is proof of this works.
No one ever died from getting all worked up over someone and not being able to relieve themselves.
My advice, show a little decorum.

but yeah razz i just think it's interesting that the usual conservative liberal roles are REVERSED if you think about it. usually the conservatives are more emotional, more religious. but if you think about it having sex with someone else is a very emotional thing, driven by passion.

you don't have to have sex to have a baby. you can be artificially inseminated. this post is more centered around stopping the spreading of std's through abstinence (which i personally do not endorse) rather than popping kids out. I don't care if you have a kid with your life partner. i personally am against have kids all together, since we have so many orphans.

which is why i wrote /life partners. and yes there is cheating, but if something becomes a powerful enough norm cheating would eventually become like those people that break the no-sex-with-children norm and have sex with kids. ie considered monsters.

Since when do you have to be married to have sex? abstinence until find of life partner/partners (if you want a harem lifestyle) would mean children are less likely to have sex.

Simply put, those you class as 'emotional' know what the word love means and what sex is, beyond mere biology, and so advise against it, much like someone versed in combat and killing in battle does not encourage others to go out and fight and kill in a war.
