It symbolizes the end of a cycle, the end of an era. It's not the ******** end of the world, it's just the calendar going back to zero. It's like how we have BCE and CE.

So stop being goddamn idiots about it, calm the ******** down, and read a book... seriously people.

Do you realize that it's not only the end of a calendar? If that was it people wouldn't worry. It's things like the sun spots (which should be pretty bad in 2012, but then again, the earth is still here after so long) and some other stuff that has to do with astronomy.

Anyway I don't believe it. I don't think things can be predicted so well (especially since there's a date and everything). Also I think the end of humanity will be man made.

Listen everyone, 2012 is NOT the end of the world. According to the mayans "prediction", there will be a planet called Nibiruu that is in orbit with our solar system and will become SO close to earth, that it will screw up the earths gravitational pull. that doesnt mean the end of the world. And im pretty sure A planet outside our solar system cant just randomly come SO close to earth, in a matter of FOUR YEARS. in the year 2012 december 19,20,21st or w/e, there will be much destruction. Why? because all the ignorant people out there think that it truly IS the end of the world, and will start Looting, Murdering, Causing Riots, etc. etc. Relax, 2012 is NOT the end of the world

I thought it was finished before the travelers arrived. And is this 2012 converted to our calendar or mayan calendar for are we not 5 years ahead or something like that?

There is no way a culture as old as the Mayans could have "forseen/predicted" that far ahead. What if they just got tired of making the calender. Maybe something will happen and it will "re-cycle". Similar events will happen, but in a different way, confusing I know.

My opinion with the whole thing goes, I'll wait until Dec. 31st, 2011 to make up my mind on the matter.
Not really a good idea. The whole thing goes down December 12 at 12 midnight.
