i wouldnt say thats always true. yeah, most karate or tkd clubs just run through kata over and over, and also have the bad habit of just throwing out black belts to the 99th dan becuase they want people to keep paying them. but look at bjj, sambo, or systema, set martial arts systems that have no kata or "form" practices. you learn your stance and techniques in slow time, then master it in sparring with a real live opponent.

not saying your wrong, just that jkd isnt the only "non-style" ma out there.

Just because you devot to a primary style does not make your style rigid. I do judo, hapkido and did taekwondo for 6 years so i have a very weird fight style. I don't have to use only that. but i stay true to the basic idea of each. But most of my things stem from my strong foundation of judo techniques. Much like most of bruce lee's steemed from his wing chung and he built off of that.

(wikipedia says "hybrid" martial art) Bruce Lee himself put out a book (with john little) called "Jeet Kune Do: Bruce Lee's Commentaries on the Martial Way" is there a real differance between a martial art and a martial "way"? or is it becuase it's a hybrid?

yep if sum1 with skills like bruce lee knew no fighting style and sum1 with the skills of child knew white louts kung fu, who do u think wood win i mean the usual reaction is "oh that guy know white lotus he sure to win" but ends up losing bcuz just cuz he knew how to throw a fancy punch dosent mean he had any good skill...i probally got off topic but plz tell meh u understand wat im tryna say lol
