I just started Karate. sweatdrop Yeah, sorry. I'm not that far into it yet. But I will get my White Belt soon...I hope.

So you start off with no belt? Do you know what style of Karate it is?

Perhaps to get another testing fee out of the student... I don't know though - I would rather not assume.

Wow, I used to box and Karate is kicking my a**. I'm having a terrible time transitioning. I'm used to holding my hands up, standing and striking a certain way and I keep getting told that I'm 'doing it wrong' forgive me for instinctively doing what I was taught since I was like 12.. -_-

some schools don't start students off w/ a belt, because of wash-out rates, but then again, i've never heard of that with a traditional school, and mcdojos only have wash-outs because of their prices or the student realizes that it's mcdojo...but ya, i'd say it's probably just to get an extra month of fees, and an extra testing fee out of the students.

I think it's just regular Karate or it could Tae Kwon Do. I hit and kick alot. (Ow)

I don't take Karate at my school. My school doesn't have it. I go to a Dojo. One more class and I get my White belt.

What you're doing is wrong... for boxing. But for this particular view of Karate it may be. Learn one way, so that you can understand another.
