Kilo of the Shadows
I'm pretty sure everything has weight classes, y'know, so there isn't too much of a size difference between opponents, thus keeping it somewhat fair. Afterall, nobody wants to see the little guy get destroyed by the large powerhouse.
I've just thought of the movie Bloodsport, with Jean Claude Van Damme. The one fight in particular I'm thinking of, is where the small, but agile African 'Monkey' Man, takes on the large Sumo wrestler. Obviously different weight classes, and while the smaller fighter got more hits on the bigger guy, he simply didn't have the power to take him down. Whereas the Sumo guy landed one hit and knocked him out.
Yep. Like the big funny American from the movie (I liked him for he twas funny). In his first fight his opponent was wailing on him and certainly he felt him, but he took that guy down with one hammer fist to the head.
Some styles like Hapkido and Aikido work well against larger opponents when adjusted. But in most martial sports techniques like that cannot be used.
Also! (heehee) In sumo, smaller fighters often master a technique that works very well against larger fighters using their force against them taking them out of the ring.
