On August 15, history is in the making, as Strikeforce will be the first major mixed martial arts promotion to ever to feature a female main event. The main event will feature Gina "Conviction" Carano (7-0) and Cris "Cyborg" Santos (7-1) as the clash to see who will be crowned the new Strikeforce 145lb Women's Champion.

Ok sorry if that sounded like a commercial, but what do you guys think. Who will win?

And please sound like you know what you are talking about ...

I havent watched to much from the women's division of MMA but, I have seen Cyborg she looks great from what I have seen. Haven't seen to much from Gina though.

Gina Carano is very technical with her striking, he ground game is solid (as she is training at Xtreme Couture), and her cardio is also good.

Cris Santos trains out of Chute Boxe Academy, so it is safe to assume that her muay thai is top notch. She also has a good ground game and cardio.

The problem that they have both have had in the past is: weight. In Gina's last fight she barely made weight. With Kris's last fight, she didn't even make weight. This fight is probably one of the most important in their careers, so they are probably stressing more than ever weight cutting.

I'm going with Cris Santos on this one. Her Muay thai is deadly ... she has a clear cut advantage on the feet. I give a slight advantage on the ground to Gina, but I don't she it going there. Cris will probably advance and push the pace. There is going to be a lot of throwing of leather in this match ...

As much as I want Gina to win, I have to give it to Santos. But as baka_boy1221 said in this match both need to make weight more than anything.

I agree, Gina Carano is a more well-rounded fighter. Though I wouldn't call Santos a one trick pony, but with her muay thai highlighting her style, it just seems like that is the only part of her game (though we all know she has a solid BJJ game). Either way San Jose will be the host of history ...

You know I kind of see alot of Wandy is Cyborg. I like Wandy alot very aggressive and wont stop and until somebody drops. I havent seen that other girl but, from I can tell is she can strike and she has a ground game. xP

I going to enjoy this fight also, becuse of the camps: Xtreme Couture and Chute Boxe. Two elite gyms ... it is going to e interesting what thier gameplans will be ...

I think the weight cut might be harder on Carano because of having not actually been training for so long doing AG and promotional stuff, while Cyborg has been fighting. Cyborg is huge, the weight cut is going to affect her as it did in the last fight and if Carano comes in underweight I can see her pushing the pace, setting a high rhythm and gassing Cyborg out. On the other hand I could see Cyborg blowing through Carano like I would her panty drawer.
