looks good but does EVERY movie Burton comes out with lately have to star Johnny Depp and Helena Bohnam Carter

How many times must I remind everyone that Burton didn't pick Depp to star in this? Depp was attached to star as Barnabas

Burton signed on as the director. No matter who directed this film, it was always going to be Depp playing Barnabas. Depp is the producer of this film.

As for Helena Bonham Carter, her role isn't even very big in this. Eva Green and Michelle Pfeifer have larger roles than her.

Let the record show that only four of the actors in this film have worked with Burton before. Depp, who was going to be in it with or without Burton, Carter, who is in a supporting role rather than a lead, Michelle Pfeifer, who has only worked with Burton once before this, and Christopher Lee in a small cameo, and if anyone complains about Christopher Lee in anything then their opinion loses all credibility.

Look I'm not in any way criticizing, so put down the guns man, They do great work regardless, its just something I have been noticing lately.....

I'm not criticizing either, but it's annoying when everyone immediately assumes that Burton put Depp in this film when Depp was in it before Burton was.

Any word on whether or not Quentin Collins will be a character in the movie? Since I heard the news I have been scouring the internet for proof.

So far all I have seen is one claim stating that the script mentions a young Quentin and implications of a sequel.

I am already excited about this movie but I would be overjoyed to find that all of the original characters will be included.

Ew they're still letting him make movies?
I can't wait for the movie.

I don't think Quentin is in the film, but the hope is that he'll be in the sequel, and it makes sense when you think about it. I just hope that, if they do a sequel, Burton is still involved, for the sake of continuity. Also, I hope they don't use a ton of CG for Quentin's werewolf form. I know some people are partial to the "bi-pedal wolf" thing that's been popular these days, but if they're gonna go the extra mile to make Barnabas a classical vampire, then they should go the extra mile to make Quentin a classical werewolf, as in, a "wolfman" appearance. Like he was in the original show, really.

If it's any consolation, David Selby, who played Quentin, has a cameo in the film. So does Kathryn Leigh Scott, Lara Parker, and the great Jonathan Frid. And Christopher Lee, as it turns out. If Lee and Frid share even a single frame, I will s**t my socks, by the way.
I'm only going to see it because it looks really funny. Of course, my grandmother, who loves the soap, wants to see it too, but only to badmouth it. biggrin

(I really don't care about the actors, just that the film made a big impression on me when I first saw the preview).

I can't wait for this movie. Yeah, the trailer's funny, but if you haven't seen the whole movie, then don't go saying it sucks based on one trailer.

Personally, I love Tim Burton, and Johnny Depp is my favorite actor. Don't see why it's a problem that they collaborate so much, hell there's plenty of others in hollywood that do the same.

On a side note, I enjoy Burton's Alice in Wonderland as a stand alone film. I thought it was a rather interesting take, but that some parts could have been given more. But I personally still enjoyed the film.

Can't wait for Frankenweenie as well 3nodding
I'm pretty interested.. but I've always liked Tim Burton's films. I like his style and sense of imagination.. and I can't see why people are getting so upset over the trailer for. Usually, the trailer seems to depict something ENTIRELY different from what the movie is actually going to be about. You don't see a lot of the film in the trailers, usually only scenes the masses would appeal to. Dark Shadows is really dark looking, but then it seems funny, so more people would be interested.. I've read up on the movie directed by Depp and Burton; there's going to be more scay/srsbsns in it then funny.
Can't judge it well if all you're going to do is what the trailer.

They do have a close working relationship, them and Danny Elfman, though considering everything that makes sense

I am begining to suspect that the main reason why people so thouroughly criticize Tim Burton is because they don't want to be associated with the "maww gawf" crowd. He's a good director and considering most directors work with the same group of people it makes sense that all of his films would have a similar aesthetic. Look at the Cowen brothers.
I'll pass, I was hoping for something spooky.
Daaamn, this whole trailer reeks of the "Hey it's Tim Burton and he directed Beetlejuice, remember? biggrin biggrin biggrin " message.

I'm intrigued though. I took one look at the makeup in the production photos and was completely expecting Depp to go stupidly ballistic like with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, but his scenes in the trailer look more like he's attempting that oldschool Dracula-esque gravitas which gives me hope.
Heart cant wait!
Here's a new TV spot.
