If I suspected something was wrong, I'd set up a video camera and try to catch any wrongdoing on film. Then I'd research his past. If either of these led to anything suspicious, I would hide in the house with a cellphone and lots of rope. Then I would try to tie him up. If successful, I would call the police and have them take him into custody. If unsuccessful (e.g. he tried to kill me), I would call the police anyway, and have him arrested for attempted murder.
It could work...
