I loved that movie, and I love the Japanese version too, it's excelent, along with the sequal. :]
I don't like the grudge movies.
They say that a truly good horror movie is 5% conflict and 95% threat. I like the fact that Kayako would eventually get everyone she's after. The sound she would make is not scary at first. But imagine being in the shoes of the victims. Once you learn what that sound is coming from, just hearing it would be enough to make your heart stop.

I hated both Grudge movies, they were horrible. That sound that girl made was so stupid, was that an attempt to scare people with that sound.

u iz a hater to asianz cuz we iz da bestie Xd but im not racist i like mexicanz and blak ppl =)
The first two Grudge movies have scarred me for life. If anyone does that throat-cackling noise, I get so scared! The first one was the best, the second one was confusing, and the third one just plain out sucked. I've only see the 2nd japanese version (aka Ju-on 2), and it was as equally scary. Although I agree they are great thrillers, I don't believe they are the greatest thrillers of all time. I've seen better, but nothing as creepy as Kayako doing her throat thing or crawling down stairs, bloody and coming out of her plastic coffin.
i like them alot too :]]
i just watched the first one and i'm usually really scared of horror movies, but with this one i was okie until near the end where the lady was crawling down the stairs. usually i'm good with short, quick little scares but that part freaked me out cuz it lasted so long. but then again, i do want to see the 2nd one ^^

I hated the American remake of the Ju-On, The Grudge, simply because Sam Raimi tried to Americanize a predominantly Japanese horror film. It just didn't work out properly, the suspense was lost and so was the main theme of the film by focusing attention on the heroin, instead of making it into an anthology like film where everything is connected and interwoven, but it's a separate story.

The 2004 remake could have been a lot better if Raimi understood what Ju-On was all about.
