i didn't think it was all that scary honestly.
Before i ever saw it- my mom was always like "thats the scariest movie ever"
My sister- "thats a scary a** movie"

So i watched it alone- and I wasn't impressed.
maybe it had something to do with my expectations getting all built up as if this were the real
exorcism of emily rose- now that movie scares me.

im a catholic but im a little skeptical as well.
i mean, i thought the exocism movie was good- just not really scary...

and i know you wanted to know this (sarcasm) but it is based from true events. Just instead of a little girl being possessed, it was a little boy.

The Exorcist was inspired by an allegedly true story, yeah.

Meanwhile, The Exorcism of Emily Rose is very, very loosely based on the story of Anneliese Michel. It's not very close to the real thing at all.

I hate the part where she did sort of like a spider upside down thing down the stairs. And It was terrifying. ;A;

Isn't there a part where she crawls backwards down the stairs? That was freaky.

And I've heard that the movie is way scarier if you were brought up Catholic.

Yeah, that was awesome! Do you think it's what inspired the similar scene in The Grudge?

I wasn't raised Catholic either, but when I watched the movie for the very first time (only a couple years ago) it was with a very good friend who had been brought up in a (somewhat) Catholic household, and that you're taught to be afraid of demons and Satan and such.

I think a lot of people today won't find it that scary because modern-day horror films (well most modern films) tend to be way more in-your-face and use only the slickest effects possible.
