Speed Racer movie?

It looks oddly interesting for me.
Though the soundtrack makes it feel like it would suck.

But it's on my list of movies to see, along with Iron Man and Wall-E.

I'm not a fan of Speed Racer but I am a fan of the Wachowskis. Plus, I like the actor playing Speed. Emile Hirsche. He was in Into The Wild, one of the best films of 2007.

I'm not a big fan of Speed Racer, but it would be interesting to see it at least for the fact that the Wachowski's helped with it. I have a feeling that it will do a decent job at the box office. It's rated G and a lot of parents or grandparents remember it from the 60s, it's destined to at least be a rare 'family film' that makes money at the box office.

Neh, just how it looks... It's disappointing but that's my opinion and assumption. Who knows? It may actually be good and from what Chitose said about parents and grandparents going to see it with their kids or whatever, maybe. But just because it made a lot of money doesn't mean it was a huge success. People pay to see it and in the end may just be disappointed.

I'm ashamed to say that I don't like movies remade from the classics. Just look at Fantastic Four. The first was fine but the second pissed me off. Spider Man is a true exception and they did awesome on it along with X-Men but that's Marvel. In any case, I'll wait a year or so until it comes out on TV and see if it was any good.

Hahaha, honestly? Watching this looks like it would be on par with watching the first movie incarnation of "Dune". Terrible, but as a fan, ya gotta watch it!

That's probably a rumor, seeing as there were a few movies like "V for Vendetta" and a certain "Matrix" trilogy they were working on before this.

Personally, I'm excited for this movie, and can't wait!
It's gonna get killed by Iron Man, though.

I read on Wiki that it was in development since 1992 ._. I think that was when the anime series was still on air xD

The film had been in development since 1992, changing writers and directors until producer Joel Silver and the Wachowski brothers collaborated to begin production on Speed Racer as a family film so the directors could reach a wider audience. Actor Emile Hirsch was cast as Speed, the hero of the animated series, and Christina Ricci portrays Speed's girlfriend, Trixie. Speed Racer was produced in Germany at Babelsberg Studios, where filming took place entirely against green screen.

I've never seen any films done by Germans, and it saying that they are against green screen (that's used for special effects, etc) perhaps that's why it looks a little bad?

Sometimes the trailers may look lousy which could only result in the movie itself being lousy or just kick a**.

Then again, you have some trailers that just make you anticipate for the movie but when you actually see it, it's worst than crap i.e. Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer D:< i srsly cannot get over how crappy it was. It was an insult!
