I've seen about three or four Fringe threads on the boards but they've never managed to stick or have devolved into off topic nonsense and that sucks. So I want to create an official thread that people will know is for discussing one of the best sci-fi shows on television.

Special Agent Olivia Dunham: Olivia is a hand-picked FBI Agent assigned to the multi-agency task force Fringe team with the mission to respond to the unexplained events known as The Pattern, and to the forces from the alternate universe preparing for make war on her universe. At current, our Agent Dunham is trapped in the alternate universe, thinking she belongs there, while Faux-livia from Fringe Division in the Redverse is in our universe, pretending to be Agent Dunham.

User Image
Peter Bishop: Peter is a high school dropout, misfit, and nomad. He has a recorded IQ of 190 and falsified his degree from MIT. He was recruited by Olivia Dunham to gain access to his father, Dr. Walter Bishop. He is forced by honor and duty to join Fringe team. He has one foot in and out and isn’t happy about being his father’s babysitter. At current, Peter has discovered that he is from the Redverse, stolen by Walter from his bed when he was a child. After meeting his real father on the other side, Secretary Bishop, Peter knew he belonged in our universe, the Blueverse and came back, with information on the machine Secretary Bishop is building to destroy our universe. He is now in an intimate relationship with Faux-livia.

Dr. Walter Bishop: Walter supplies the scientific genius and technological wizardry needed to explore The Pattern. Dr. Bishop has a recorded IQ of 196. He was formerly an endowed chair in Biochemistry at Harvard University, and a senior research consultant for Kelvin Genetics before he was institutionalized at St. Claire's Hospital after an assistant was killed in his laboratory. He was charged with manslaughter, but was deemed mentally unfit to stand trial. He was still there seventeen years later, when he was released to the custody of his son, Peter. At current, Dr. Bishop is the new CEO of Massive Dynamic and is trying to prevent Peter from building the machine from the other side, afraid that it might destroy both universes, while Walternate is studying our Olivia to determine what it is about her that allows her to travel between universes.

User Image
Special Agent Phillip Broyles: Phillip is a Special Agent-in-Charge with the Department of Homeland Security. He leads the Fringe team, a multi-agency task force with an overt mission of identifying, investigating and solving the expanding number of science-related crimes witnessed over the past few years. At current, the Redverse Broyles, Colonel Broyles, has watched over our Olivia as Secretary Bishop drugged her into believing she was someone else and bent her to his will, and after Olivia helped capture the man who kidnapped and tortured his son, knows Olivia is aware of who she really is and has acquiesced to doing anything about it, out of respect.

Other characters of note:
Nina Sharp
Astrid Farnsworth
William Bell
Charlie Francis
Lincoln Lee
Brandon the Lab-tech

In the last three episodes:

Novation - The body count builds as a new human-hybrid shapeshifter seeks to perfect the technology that makes her possible. Former Massive Dynamic scientist, Doctor Malcolm Truss, unwittingly contributes to the cause. Nina Sharp makes amends with Walter and encourages his effort to connect with Peter.

And Those We've Left Behind - The team searches for a way to stop destructive time chamber anomalies that are wreaking havoc in the Boston metropolitan area. Walter rejects Peter's effort to reconnect, while Broyles and Olivia gladly welcome Peter's assistance. A married couple try to optimize what little time they have left together.

Wallflower - An invisible force is killing innocent civilians to harvest their pigmentation. The predator has a genetic disorder that was manipulated for years by a well-known laboratory. Olivia suffers from migraine headaches, but has no idea why. Agent Lee is starting to adapt to the demands of Fringe Division.

So, now that we've done some nut-shelling, discuss this awesome show - The Pattern, The Observers, The First People - how far it's come or even the precarious future of the show after FOX announced it was moving the series to Friday night. Why FOX Should Not Cancel Fringe

Source: Fringepedia
*sigh*

Why is it that any show that becomes a favorite of mine faces the possibility of, or acutally does, get cancelled? Fringe is one of the few really good Sci-Fi shows out there right now. If I didn't have Fringe, I'd be stuck watching reruns of Dead Like Me, Heroes, and Surface. gonk

On topic, Peter's relationship with Faux-livia is about as fake as she is. It's fairly obvious that he's guessed that she's not Olivia, but he seems to be playing along with it, maybe to find out what her intentions for being in the Blueverse are.

There's no talk of it actually being canceled yet but all we can hope is that it follows in the trend of Smallville and Supernatural and actually does better in the ratings on Friday nights than it did before in another time slot. But yeah, I feel you on all the good shows getting canceled. It sucks d**k that these executives shut these programs down before they get a chance to prove themselves. Or worse, letting them go on and on and on for years, even after the show has died, just because they think it's what the people want. Makes me sad...

As for Peter... I don't know about him knowing that Olivia is an impostor. He did seem genuinely surprised when he got that call from the woman on Liberty Island and from the trailer, I would guess he's busy trying to confirm the phone call. No question he had some doubts about her in the beginning but I think once Faux-livia jumped his bones, those doubts went out the window. At least for a little while.

But yeah. I'm kinda scared that it might fail. Fox seems to want it to succeed, though.

Quote:
”We are not killing the show. Over the last week, over 45% of the audience time-shifted the show. That’s almost half of the dedicated audience watching it on their DVRs. It’s been such a loyal fanbase. I will be really disheartened if the viewer base decides to not watch because it shifted one night. I hope they go with it, and if not they have the option of picking it up on their DVRs. If it does anywhere near what it did on Thursdays, we can glue that show to the schedule because it can be a big win for us.”

Is what the president of Fox said. So all I can say is try to get folks to watch it or DVR it if they are counting DVR viewers.

We watch it online because Thursdays at 9PM are way too busy.

If it is on at 8PM on Fridays, I'd be fine with that (9PM would be a little difficult, that is the same time as CSI: NY).

From what I gather, I don't think they count them, but I'm not sure if they actually do, sadly. D:

That's what I said in my announcement earlier today in my6 guild; Supernatural and CSI: NY have been there for a long, long time, with very large and dedicated fanbases. Against that much of a challenge, I'm not certain if Fringe will pull it off, as much as it pains me to say; I may be hopeful, but I'm still scared that it might not happen...

Well CSI: NY only moved to Fridays this season (before it was on Wednesdays at 10PM).

I am not sure how large its fanbase is, but most fans prefer the original CSI, so its fanbase is smaller than that.

Depending on when Fringe is on at night, if it is at 8PM we'll just watch it. If it is at 9PM we'll record it and watch it at 10PM (and just bump Blue Bloods to some other time).

True; I stopped watching CSI (The original) when they killed off Warrick. sweatdrop And I don't watch New York at all. If I watch anything CSI it'd be Miami, but that's sparingly in and of itself. :/

I think it's going to be on at the same time it has been on Thursdays, but I'll go check around to be sure. heart Thanks.

CSI: NY is actually my favorite of the three.

Yeah it probably will, I don't remember it ever being at 8PM, no matter what channel. I think originally they had it on Tuesdays after House (or whatever night House was on at the time).

They do count the DVR ratings, but they take about a week or so to be calculated, so they aren't in the overnight tallies that get released the next day.

Okay, just watched the new episode and I have to say, was anyone else mightily creeped out by the scene where the guy has the dead girl strung up on the loom and was dancing her around?
I didn't know you watch Fringe!
Anyway, I caught up with it about a month ago or so.
I'm really loving the current storyline, though, I'm behind by 2 episodes.
I'm still stuck on Olivia's bangs. Chick looks hot but those bangs don't do her justice. For the first couple episodes, I actually thought she was wearing a wig, cause of the constant change in hair color.

I actually think she looks better with red hair and bangs.

I honestly think that me and you are mind melded when it comes to TV shows. Cause every time I see your signature, it's always of a show I watch, or at least enjoyed at some point. And yeah, this season has really raised the bar! And you're behind and I don't wanna spoil it but it looks like it's gonna get even better!
