I agree, though I remember loving Harry Potter SO much when it was just like the first 4 or 5 books, then by the time the 7th came out I wanted to poke my eyes out and eat them then puke them out again. The last couple books (especially 7) Were absolutly HORRIBLE and ruined the series for me. I still have the first few though and I can read them and pretend the others never came out >.>

I like Harry potter, was disapointed in a lot of things with the book but thankfully thats what fanfiction is for. Twilight, is a different story (Pun not intended lol) About a month ago I would have told you it sucked, and it still is one way or another, but everything has it''s faults in the end

Still a Rabid Yaoi FanGirl. Deal for we are deadly,
I honestly dont see the point in everybody complaining about Twilight cuz there little fags that have to state there opinion about everything(i really hate the ppl who wont even give it a the time of day and even try to read it). BUT the ppl who compare Harry Potter and Twilight like their anything alike are just as worse, your all comparing them because that guy who plays Edward also played Cedric Diggery, they are nothing alike, There both equally good in my opinion. Im not a big fan of the obsession ppl have created but honestly its not the books or movies you hate its the little fan boy fags that came along w/ them not the books or movies the lets the whole feud die already and go back to what you were doing before they made the Twilight movie.

Hon, its a little more deep than that.

Both were obsessive phases that most people went through before they realised how retarded the books actually were.

Its got nothing to do with Robert Pattinson.

Harry Potter had it's staying effect on me, now that it's over it's just a sweet memory of imagination.
But... Twilight...unbelievable, vampires that sparkles? It's just a hold on all forbidden untouchable, helpless love! Gah. Nevermind, better romance novels out there!

Wicked-ness with a pinch of insanity, in a world distraught where I spew hatred to those like you, and you biggrin

I personally think that J.K. Rowling can walk all over Stephanie Meyer, and that the two series are constantly compared is an insult.
The Harry Potter series was so well written down to the minutest detail (my opinion again).
Twilight was just pathetic. I have taken the time to read the whole series because I wanted to see what people were making all the fuss about, and I was extremely disappointed.
If Twilight is the standard of literature for future generations, then god help the written word O.O

That's the first rule of politics, isn't it? The man who orders the execution never drops the blade!
I like them both, but seeing as both fandoms have new movies coming out I doubt their popularity will end anytime soon.

That said, being a Twilight fan myself, even I've become annoyed at all the craziness that's going on about it. I like it, but I'm not OBSESSIVE over it like a lot of people are. Oh well, at least the Harry Potter hype has died down some... rolleyes

Personally, I had to be forced to read three books into the Twilight series. Finally, I refused toc ontinue on and convinced my teacher to allow me to read another series as long as my assignments corresponded with the rest of the class's. Vampires that *sparkle*. Need I say more?

As for Harry Potter, I must admit that I feel bittersweet concerning J. K. Rowling's "masterpiece/lifetime achievement." Along with half the world, I began the series when I was particularly young and not quite yet experienced enough to know the difference between good books and anything I thought was interesting and fueled my imagination. However, I can safely say that the great, magnificent ending I always imagined from the books was one of the worst disappointments of my brief life (i.e. trumping Dumbledors and Sirius's deaths).

Ultimately, though, I have to admit that at some point in every series' career I start expecting the "turning point," when the series has gained enough popularity that the author/creator can either loosen their own reigns and write what they want and not pander as much to what they expect fans will read or the integrity of the concept is sacrificed for the sake of material gain (i.e. Fast & Furious franchise). The same goes for all great fandoms: Buffy, Charmed, Anita Blake, etc. I fear it may be inevitable....

She forced you to read them? Does she know what those books are really about? That's force feeding you religion. Those books are about how Mormons view their partners. Their is a lot of Mormon values through out the book. The Vampire's bitten ages, why Edward is abusive, she just spun it to be romantic- which it really wasn't. You want true romance, watch Merlin.

I grew up reading Harry Potter so although I hardly read the books anymore and I hate Harry's character (he trys to be modest, but he's not) it is still better than Twilight, which is a great idea but badly carried out in writing.
