I think Harry Potter was and still is pretty good, even though I'll lay it to rest now, because aside frm the movies I think Rowling is is pretty much done and satisfied with the world of wizards and witches and how she left it... and OP, I think your being a little harsh... I mean, HP was well written and well-thought out, certainly not a masterpiece but very good none the less.

And at least Rowling has'nt gotten her panties in a bunch over fanfiction like some other authors... I bet their is enough HarryxDumbledore and HarryxSnape that would gross her out, though!

Twilight is, or at least SHOULD BE, dead and buried as well... but with at least four more movies in the works (new moon, eclipse, and I bet a double for breaking dawn) and (hopefully not) an anime in the works, plus thousands of frenzied and rabid fans, I doubt Twilight will be leaving us so soon. I suppous maybe I can see why it's popular... read by young teenaged girls who know nothing of good books and are suckers for the sickening teen dramas... I've tried to enjoy it, but I cannot.

I liked both Harry Potter && Twilight.

Yet.. sooner or later both will be put back on the shelf, and never will we look or even read it again.

As for their Movies..
its not ENTIRELY over, sadly.

HP just as 2 more books to be made (6th will be coming out soon)

hm. Harry Potter'll continue to live as a classic. No denying that. For Twilight, i guess it's rising and the books are okay but the movie is just ICK.
We'll just have to wait and see which will out live the other. Man, that just sounded like the Prophecy from Harry Potter. Haha.

I agree; Harry Potter was better than Twilight ever will be. At least the proceeds went to charity. Sure, Harry Potter was a fad, but in a few years you can pull it out and still enjoy it. For our generation, it will always live on as a classic. On the other hand, Twilight is... not so good. Click my sig if you hate it!

As with any series that garners immense popularity, there will always be a lot of dissenters who simply do not like it and will cry loudly that it is undeserved. If either of these series were less popular, there would be a lot fewer people whining about how much they "sucked".

That being said, in my opinion, Twilight is pretty average, trashy vampire romance that is good for one read and no more. Harry Potter was something I could and still can, read over and over because it is so multi-layered, heartfelt, and funny.

There are so many crazy fans for both of them out there, however, it is easy to feel more than contemptuous towards them. There is a huge treasure trove of great writing and works of art in the world, and it's stupid to fixate on any one thing this much, whether to flame or adore it.

I totally disagree! I liked both stories. If you dont like Twilight...i prob know why...you are either Jealous of Edward cuz you come up short as a man (as most do) and he makes you look bad...or you're not a fan of fantasy anyway. But i loved them both (harry potter and twilight). Newayz, WAKE UP fellas! Women and girls are "in love" with Edward for a reason. Find out what that is and DO IT!! And stop complaining about him. LOL at the "jealous of Edward" part. And we complain because people won't shut up about him. That's a main reason why we complain. >__>; Tell me, would you wanna hear, "OMG LEIK EDWARD!!!!111!" or "LOL HE'S SOOO HAWT!!!!" all the time?

Harry Potter I can say nothing about. I haven't read past the fourth book, and for good reasons. I'm looking into reading it, but the family copy was a little beat up from moving (ripped in half, middle section missing, no spine, only half of the back cover left).

Twilight on the other hand sucked. I myself liked it at one point, but after my friend annoyed me about re-reading it and actually thinking of yourself on the outside of things...it pretty much was the worst book I ever read, or re-read for that matter. The writing is poor and (even if this is not necessarily Stephenie's fault), there are a ridiculous amount of spelling errors throughout the book. She contradicts herself and her writing so many times, I stopped counting. One being, the whole renesme thing, or demon spawn as my friend likes to call her. The fact it, she states that the only fluid left in a vampire is the venom, so does Edward have venomous sperm or something? I'll let that thought wander where it will.

Either way, the hype for both books are crazy, though i must say Twilight may be worse. That's another reason why some people hate it. Everywhere you go someone has to mention the books, Meyer, or Edward Cullen. It irks me to no end. Oh, and the fact that girls compare him to real guys is pretty pathetic. I want my Edward! Shut the hell up already, and read a real book.
