Well Sherlock did pick the place he'd jump from. Or that's what you said before hand. I missed that part were he picked the place. With the refitting of the hospital there would things in the way a lot of things, the best bet would be the front were he'd jump. However he covered that base with the garage. In fact in that spot were he first looks down you can see chalk outlined. As if he went there and showed his irregulars what to do.

Moriarty does say "unless my people see you jump" to Sherlock, so I'm assuming John is not accounted for in Moriarty's plans to be at the scene, thus why I'd believe the snipers have their eye on Sherlock specifically and not waiting around for John's reactions.

IDK there are a lot of holes however any one of us theorize how he dies. ;D

There was another guy on youtube who gave some more good info about a soft landing.

Why do people think Sherlock's body on the ground is a fake/imitation? I'd think a fresh dead body like the one John touched would be stiff with rigor mortis, and if it isn't it'd be like 3+ days old and smell like s**t.

as to how Moriarty didn't see the bags here is how love.

Sherlock looked over the edge and asked for privacy. he never signaled. The signal he gives is when he outstretches his hand to John then he buys time by talking with John while people set up for him.
Also after John turns the corner to see Sherlock on the ground you can actually SEE the blue and white thing he landed on. So Moriarty dies before he ever saw the bins. Sherlock even gives him a clue when he sings 'I've got you' as a taunt. Instead of I O U

About the hospital

It's CLOSED no one is suppose to be there according to the paper Sherlock is reading in the begining. Which is why no one questions why Jim or Sherlock are even up there or an alarm would have defiantly sounded. The paper said closed for refitting.

As for the noise if there is other things inside the bin which there HAS to be because of how high up it looks. It would absorb part of the inpact and would not make a noise. Also do you think you'd be listening for that after you see a person jump to their supposid death.

Sherlock didn't want John to see him because he knew that the sniper MIGHT tail John in case Sherlock was really alive. If John wasn't mourning like a normal person then it would be obvious to him Sherlock was still out there.

I just watched this

and they explain some bits.

If the snipers relied on John's reactions to determine if Sherlock were dead that is some real story BS'ing right there mad

For a smart guy you would think Moriarty would have the snipers positioned to see everything clearly instead of rely on John's reactions. Did Moriarty even know John was going to be watching? That is totally cheating. totally cheating. and if sound were discounted I'd call it cheating too. I mean, landing on something like a mattress or bed of trash bags should've registered loudly to anyone watching, and the TV producers didn't give us a realistic perspective of sound either since all they provided was a loud crunch of the body as it hit the pavement.

i guess i shouldn't give this show much credit when it comes to capturing realistic depictions of and expectations about the human experience. it is tv after all ;D

wrong a sniper could NOT see Sherlock after he falls in a bin because of what is in front of the hospital is a garage, and I have pics to prove it.

Just finished this series an hour ago.

Everything in this post is a spoiler so don't read it if you haven't finished the series.

Ya'll got it wrong talk2hand blaugh

I don't think he took any drugs to fake death. Nor do I think he landed on any trash bags.

If there's one key clue people seem to overlook, it's that Sherlock picked the location where he and Moriarty would meet.

But first, to kill some theories:
1) He couldn't have jumped onto any trash bags/soft landing because snipers/M's men are watching, you know....the ones who are told to shoot Sherlock's friends if Sherlock doesn't jump. John may have gotten a distorted view of the jump but the snipers didn't, and they have their eye trained on Sherlock. If Sherlock landed on trash bags the point of jumping would be moot since the sniper(s) would see the fakery and shoot Sherlock's friends.

2) There was no loud sound signifying that Sherlock landed on plastic/bags/a mattress, we heard a distinct crunch of a body landing on the ground although there was some brief suspicious crumpling sound as well (which may have been padding underneath S's clothes?)

3) Drugs to fake death? Possible. But I think his talk with the lab girl was to get her to handle that whole dead body thing. He talks to her about trust, he trusts her (since she's a mortician) to fake his death certificate/find a replacement body bag/etc/ whatever. There is also no need for drugs to fake his death because if there was, then that woman (part of his secret network?) wouldn't have needed to shake Watson's hand off of Sherlock so quickly.

Back to the key clue people missed:

Sherlock picked the location he would meet with Moriarty for a good reason:

1) It's located exactly underneath a building with medical staff. Two nurses are one of the FIRST crowd civilians you see when Sherlock's body attracts the ants. You don't even hear any sirens, and they wheel his body right into the medical building from the...wheely...table...thing.

2) If Sherlock picked the building, from which he knows M would want him to jump from, and if he wanted to survive the fall, he'd pick a building high enough to give M that illusion of fatality, but a building low enough for his chances of surviving a jump to be good. If we look at the building Sherlock jumped from, it's only 3-4 stories high. If Sherlock has some padding underneath his shirt maybe it might increase his chances of surviving.

I'm not too sure how he might've softened his fall though. Waiting for the possible next installment to answer that.

But one thing for sure is that Sherlock couldn't have landed on any plastic bags or what have you, because M's men were watching too. People seem so fixated about speculating how Watson was tricked, but Watson isn't the only pair of eyes watching/waiting for Sherlock to jump.

I'm thinking maybe Sherlock was a little unsure himself if he'd survive the fall, which is why he looks so panicked/anxious when M offs himself, but he must've thought his chances were good (in the case of a jump) if he picked that particular location to meet M. It's right in front of a medical center after all.
So I am a huge troll on tumblr, and I have run across these tumblrs, they are among the best Sherlock RPs I've found on tumblr, they stick to character really well:

Sherlock

John

Lestrade

Mycroft

Molly

It seems this lovely thread has died a bit...
However, does anyone have any thoughts or ideas of how season 3 will begin?
And about that CBS Sherlock coming up. Any thoughts? Rants?
I'm with Watson about the 'someone's getting married'.
Sherlock's just gonna pop up out of nowhere randomly, Lol.
And John's just gonna be confused and probably angry. Then Sherlock will tell us how he survived and we can see what theory was right. c:

I'm assuming that a certain someone will be getting married. wink

I think so too wink Though I heard a rumor that the season will pick up at around the same time it was left off, but we'll know soon.
