If somebody was wondering, chorus goes:
The control is flashing blue. A signal for safety.
The control is flashing blue. Then everything is as it should be.
If the screen is normal there is no reason to hesitate.
The control is flashing blue. Then everything is as it should be

Kraftwerk songs are too obvious and should not be posted. I do it in this post just for the sake of proving the point. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LUo-FpG5a58
... and also because the song is the beautifulest (german version is the best but can't find it not being performed live).

Your turn. Notice old means pre 1995... ish
Edit: okay say pre 1990.

This is too easy. "French Touch 2.0" sounds like everything from 1986.

Far East Family Band - Timeless Phase (1977) sounds a lot like Blur's 13.

I listen to a lot of older music to escape modern sounds, not find them.

And I just realized a big factor in why 80's music on the whole sucks so bad. All of the awesome bands in the 70's were past their prime by then.

Also: that Adolphson & Falk is pretty awesome.

EDIT: I've posted this before, but the guitar on Jean-Luc Ponty's The Struggle Of The Turtle To The Sea, Pt. 3 in 1977 anticipates acid a good ten years in advance.

DOUBLE EDIT: Irrelevant, but there appears to be a bizzare trance cover of Jean-Luc Ponty's "The Trans-Love Express" off of the same album on youtube.

THAT DOES sound modern. Eh. Nice lyrics.

not sure if you guys were saying to share songs that were made before 1995 that sound futuristic, or songs that were made before 1995 but sound like they were produced recently, but i think for this song either fits? aphex has always had a charming lo-fi thing going on.

Songs that could be mistaken of being produced recently if you didn't already know they were as old as dirt.

Also: I'm unsure whether music can actually sound futuristic today. I think it was easier some decades ago when new instruments were being introduced. People had never heard perfect sine or squarewaves before and had no reference to it. To them this was so alien it had to be associated with a distant future. The theme music from doctor who does not sound futuristic to me (just awesome), but I bet it did to the people who heard it when the show ran for the first time. We may have already heard every possible sound because they can be created digitally, and even if not, we have at least experienced the extremes in the spectrums of complexity and pitch, and nothing in between will suprise us. If some music sounds new to us today it is not the sound itself but the expression behind it. Of course you can never imagine the unimaginable.

Any thoughts on this?

LOLOLOL, they had sine waves at least in the late 1800's when the Telharmonium was invented. They are hardly a recent invention. The Doctor Who theme is played on a theremin, anyway talk2hand

Someone will just have to start inventing new instruments and styles of music.

And Aphex Twin is modern music, Jesus. Talk about missing the forest for the trees.

Srlsy guy. How many do you think had heard the Telharmonium in the 1800's?
How many do you think have heard the Telharmonium at all? stressed

Point. It's still nothing new.

I dunno, this thread sort of seems geared towards synth-pop. Any music lover can tell the difference between 70's production and modern production.
