Welcome to Gaia! ::

Yeah Im an old far, been posting in electronic music threads on Gaia since 2003.
Other than DDR vocal trance cheese/euro trance...never saw a niche drama soon become this huge focus. On virtually every forum I glance, most the music threads is about dubstep(or I guess some people call wubba wompa)

Just curious what you were into BEFORE the dubstep trend? I never cared for DnB/uk garage/Jungle, so at least despite being ultra gimmicky I like dubstep more than that stuff. Just strange seeing so many full dance nights devoted to dubstep everywhere in this town I live in. "Brostep" is a very appropriate word for where I am

Dubstep? What's that crap?

mmm... I used to be a Kandi Kid.. yeah I know that's not any better then Dubstep but I've always had a soft place in my heart for psytrance, Trance and DnB..

Idk when Dubstep started a few years ago, I didn't mind it but I've noticed a change in what is consider "dubstep" now, so I can't back it up in good faith..
A lot of stuff that I still like.....
Jungle, Breakcore, IDM, DnB, Hardcore Techno, Post-Hardcore, Hardcore Punk, Skate Punk, Digital Hardcore, Post-Industrial, Noise Rock, Noise Pop, Dream Pop...............Yeah mostly Punk and hard EDM.
My high school days were split between rock/punk and electronic. My electronic tastes were pretty...eh mild. EBM, darkwave, futurepop, synthpop stuff mostly. Cruxshadows, Ladytron, and Neuroticfish were probably my favorite electronic acts back in the day. Still like them don't get me wrong, but I'm glad I branched out.

But Pocky and I have talked about this in great length. whee
Yo Pocky....this s**t is hilarious.

The 2:40 mark is my favorite. rofl
I actually didn't like electronic music at the time then my friend introduced me I think I don't know how I started liking it but then I started going deeper in it listening to a bunch of people like Kode9 and Skream then moved onto other genres of electronic music but I listened to alot of underground rap before I knew who Datsik was or Skrillex rofl

Never liked dubstep. Obnoxious kiddie garbage. Trance, harsh EBM, and industrial are what I listened to before dubstep decided to plague the world.

Okay so basically you have been listening to Trance and Harsh EBM for about 15 years?

I have a box filled with scratched Ambient and Drone CD's. They make reeeally glitchy noisies when in a cd player. How do you think Oval gets his glitchy sounds? whee
Massive Attack....I love them at times.....and then I hate them.
I do enjoy Portishead, though.
And Bjork, if she counts as Trip-hop.
Burial is the only dubstep artist I enjoy, and I hate the gimmicky brostep, so for me it's not really applicable.

For electronic music, I'm mostly just a fan of ambient and minimalism, with the occasional bit of musique concrete, noise and ambient house.

Burial is godly and all, but just remember that he's not Dubstep. He's 2-step and Future Garage.
