Welcome to Gaia! ::

My personal favorite industrial artists are:

-Frontline Assembly

-Overseer (MUST listen to these guys.)

-Propellerheads (Old, but good.)

-And One (They sing in German usually, but they are REALLY cool.)

-BT (Not quite industrial, but he borders sometimes. Awesome artist.)

-Gravity Kills' album "Manipulated" is pretty good.

I always thought Gravity Kills was more Metal...I mean they do have the Industrial influences, and maybe it depends on what album you listen to. Manipulated is just a remix album and not as good the originals, or at least thats what I think.
Hey xTransylvanianxConcubinex, Funker Vogt is great. Thanks for the suggestion....I've still got to download the other bands....not done yet.
Actually it was pockybot who first suggested it because I'm scatterbrained and forgot to put them on my list. But glad you enjoy 'em. If I can remember any more I didn't include I will elt you know.
and here are some more bands that have been left out
Electric Helfire club
Diary of dreams (industrial or goth all depends on your definition)
Mindless Faith
Kill Switch Klick
My Life With Kill Thrill Cult
Pig Face
Christian death (granted no there not industrial but still worth mentioning)
Genitorturers (if your in the least bit puritanical in any way they may put you off)
Front Line Assembly
Sheep on drugs (hard to find but worth finding)
OhGr (1/2 of Skinny Puppy)
Burmingham 6
Stromkern
Switchblade Symphony
Individual Totem
Flesh Fields.
Switchblade Symphony is Goth...or at least that's what I've viewed them as. Good band though.
If you want more gritty industrial other than the "dancy" sort, go for Laibach or the original forefathers of industrial- Throbbing Gristle and maybe some Phychic TV or Leaether Strip. (yes, I'm aware I put an extra e in leather. ) And pick up some Sister Machine Gun or Nitzer Ebb while you're at it. wink And if you like Noise: Nurse with Wound! =o

I don't know what you will and won't like so here are some of the bands I listen to, some are probably more Electonic than Industrial though:

Stabbing Westward
Nine Inch Nails
KMFDM
Wumpscut
Joy Division
Velvet Acid Christ
Skinny Puppy
Front Line Assembly
Ministry
Rammstein
Zeromancer (More Electronic/Synth than anything)
Lollipop Lust Kill (Alternative Metal or Industrial I'm not sure)
Joy Division's neither electronic nor industrial.

The only one of those artists/bands that has even a scrap of industrial is skinny puppy. Even that is flaunted by the blatant left wing politics and their new material.

Besides my own, this is the only sensible post I see so far.
The person asked for industrial, not EBM or any other form of melodic music, s**t or otherwise.
Industrial & power electronics, the real recommendations:
Throbbing Gristle, Coil & Psychic TV
Einsturzende Neubauten
Non (Yes that is Non. Not NIN, NIN are s**t whatever you say and have nothing to do with industrial music besides ill-thought slander.)
The Grey Wolves / Con-dom
Monte Cazazza
Streicher
Blackshirt Orchestra
Survival Unit
Nurse with Wound

I know I am aggressive and trolling, but that dosn't bother me.
Some of you are equivalent of recommending Busted to a punk-newcomer.

Electronic Goth music?

electronic+goth=darkwave(like cruxshadows)

Anyways, I'll make a very simple list:

3 classic EBM bands ya shoul dknow about(and by EBM, im just replacing the old word industrial)

Skinny Puppy
Front Line Assembly
Front 242

5 modern EBM bands ya should know about:

VNV Nation
Covenant
Icon of Coil
Funker Vogt
Suicide Commando

Err, ok, that was 5 smile

There is no goth music.

I was curious so I asked my friend who was a goth in the '80s and early '90s.

There is no goth music, there is music that is generally played at goth clubs[industrial], but there is no goth music. Goth is not a style of music. Just like Rave is not a style of music.

My bolded print says you're wrong. And what I said next goes for how they would be categorized...I know people who would be like "NO! They're Industrial!" And that's how they view them. I personally see them as a Goth band (because they are) and that is what I said. I am also aware that Goth music is a genre because I happen to listen to it.
